“The Great Strain” by Lull

Hello to everyone, it is Thursday and we have discovered another splendid song. Lull from Newcastle released “The Great Strain” at the end of January and I would say it is definitely a good one. A bassline opens the track and the guitar drops in together with the vocals (which remind me a bit of Paul Weller and The Jam). It is a well-done 90s-based alternative rock song with a grunge touch. We have to say, beware - not mainstream but beware - banger quality.

Musically, the sound design is good and varied, and the vocals, which have a bit of Nordic and Celtic flair, are completely convincing.

In the past, Me & Melancholy focused more on societal themes, whereas with ‘One Last Kiss,‘ he is taking a new direction. Both lyrically and musically, Peter Ehrling presents himself as more open, personal, and accessible, showing a greater affinity for pop. The night is over, the day is dawning, and with it comes a new chapter. Although ‘One Last Kiss‘ maintains a recurring connection to the past, it simultaneously keeps a certain distance, allowing for a reinterpretation of the past. Peter moves almost weightlessly across the floor, stepping out of the shadows, and presents an outstanding synth-pop song with ‘One Last Kiss.‘
