“The Great Strain” by Lull

Hello to everyone, it is Thursday and we have discovered another splendid song. Lull from Newcastle released “The Great Strain” at the end of January and I would say it is definitely a good one. A bassline opens the track and the guitar drops in together with the vocals (which remind me a bit of Paul Weller and The Jam). It is a well-done 90s-based alternative rock song with a grunge touch. We have to say, beware - not mainstream but beware - banger quality.

With 'Nightwatchers' PHIL FORTIN offers us one of his best tracks, which I would categorize as dark post-punk pop of the early '80s. Both the vocals and the sound arrangement reinforce this genre classification. The melancholic melodies prove that you don’t need exaggerated drums to sound good, and the repetitive bass perfectly complements the mood of the night watchmen. The only thing I’m still waiting for is to add it to our playlist, as, as far as I know, it’s only available on SoundCloud and YouTube.

#listenNOW! "Coyote Run" by Peasant / Damien DeRose

The artist Damien DeRose (alias Peasant) tragically passed away 10 years ago. Producer Joe Ujj took it upon himself to sift through almost 400 songs and make them available to us as a kind of obituary. Joe and other Peasant fans have added instruments to the stripped-down songs, breathing new life into them, and the result is stunning. I think Damien would be proud to hear it. ‘Coyote Run’ is just one of the songs on ‘Lost Recordings Part Three,’ and it inspires me once again.
