Neil Armstrong’s ‘In the Borderlands’: A Nostalgic Journey Through Love and Loss

“In the Borderlands” by Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong steps onto our blog stage for the first time as an artist. His music pays tribute to the icons of the 80s, including The Cure, Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, and Howard Jones. Oscillating between the realms of Synth-Pop/Rock and New Wave, Armstrong’s transnational work, fluctuating between Spain and Scotland, is expressed in his latest piece, “In the Borderlands.” The song takes us on an introspective journey through the nuances of human relationships, unfolding the complexity of interpersonal dynamics . It exposes these nuances on the operating table of music, bringing them to life with a nostalgic touch reminiscent of the 80s, thereby endowing the work with a soul. The arrangement, inspired by the musical giants of that era, is a testament to Armstrong’s exceptional talent for composing and arranging songs. Every note, every melody in “In the Borderlands” is carefully chosen to tell a story of love: its loss and rediscovery, wit

The Friday Interview: Colin and the Clouds

Hier sind sie: “Colin and the Clouds”. Und natürlich werden wir nächste Woche ihre neue Single “Clouds” vorstellen.

Who inspired you to make music?

Honestly the audience. It feels so good to express yourself in a way that other people can enjoy and relate to. We want to take people to a new place.

What is your creative process like?

A song must live up to a few criteria. Can you dance to it? Can you sing it? Most importantly: Does it make you feel something? If yes, it could be a Colin And The Clouds song!

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Woah, hard question... We have so many influences. M83, KSHMR, Billie Eilish or Robyn would be a dream come true!

What is the most useless talent you have?

Hypnotizing crayfish with the stroke of a hand.

What is the most useful talent you have?

Being really stubborn and not giving up! Also making very good Mojitos.

If you could change anything in the past, what would it be?

Starting to produce music earlier instead of just trying to play faster or harder songs. It’s all about writing and producing a good song, not about how fast you can shred.

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

Very much. Mostly in a good way. It opens up possibilities for emerging artists that have a sense for content and want to learn marketing. Especially the last three years have been crazy good in terms of the music bussiness content you can get on youtube. Burstimo, Damian Keyes, Andrew Southworth to name a few. These folks are heroes!

What’s next for you?

30th of April we are releasing a dreamy pop song called Clouds. We worked very hard on it and we love the result so that is exciting. Apart from that our goal is releasing a new single every month, going great so far. We will also do 10 gig/live streams this year and 3 music videos. One is already done and out on our youtube channel, check it out and tell us how we did!

What do you know about Austria?

MOZART!!!! AFTER SKI!!!! Yeah that’s about it... We really want to tour there though.

Why "Colin and the clouds", is there a story behind the band name?

We had a reeeeeal hard time voming up with a name. We made lists of cool words, tried all sorts of ”generators”, asked online and everything was just cheesy, dark or didn’t make sense. Then we just came up with it from no where. Colin And The Clouds... Sounds dreamy and catchy, like we want our music to be! Maybe Colin will be a character of a future album, we’ll see.
