‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

The Artist: Said Sara - "Bleedways"

So we have to say Achtung: Somewhere in the dark, where pop folk ends and alternative starts you can find Said sara, but only at that moment.

Wir hatten auch die Möglichkeit David einige Fragen zu stellen, etwa über seine Einflüsse und wie er arbeitet bzw. seine Songs schreibt. Thanks for your time, David and thanks for your music.

Said Sara - Spotify

Who inspired you to make music?

I was inspired to play music at an early age, mostly by the music that my parents played and what I heard on rock radio. I played my first club show at age 14.

What is your creative process like?

The Said Sara songs are never forced. Some of them have flowed out in just a couple of hours. Some of the lyrics, on the other hand, have taken several weeks to complete. In general, the creative process is quite cleansing. It's a purging of emotionality.

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

As someone who's been around the music business for 35+ years, it's very clear how things have changed. Not that I ever made money from selling records before, but it's virtually impossible now. Luckily, I've always been in it for the fun, I earned early on that getting paid for it is a shot in the dark at best, unless you're going to tour 200+ days a year. More than ever, it has to be solely for the purpose of passion for me.

What’s next for you?

Said Sara will play live as soon as Covid regulations allow.

What do you know about Austria?

I have to admit that I know very little about Austria aside from the bands Pungent Stench and Falco, Mozart (and the famous actor/former governor of California)! I would love to play there! The song Vienna by Ultravox is one of my all-time faves!

What is the message you want to give to your listeners?

I would love for my new listeners to approach my music with an open heart.
