‘Garden of Letters’ by Carlos Ucedda

‘Garden of Letters’ by  Carlos Ucedda Carlos Ucedda, who has been very active this year, also ends the year with one last great release. As always, the keyword is art-pop, and this year he has given it an enormously colourful variety, combining it with avant-garde pop or a touch of post-punk and dark wave.  ‘Garden of Letters’, the new release, follows the path of 80s dream/synth pop and provides a wonderful musical framework for the lyrics. The lyrics thematise the duality of love and loss. The song shows how love can be a source of joy and inspiration as well as pain and longing. The preservation and remembrance of past feelings indicate an attempt to preserve the emotional value and meaning of past relationships. The capriciousness of love, the failure of romantic promises, and the search for meaning and comfort in memories of past affection.   The listener is invited to reflect on the transience and emotional complexity of human relationships. Next LIVE! Event: 24th July 2021 - Café Carina - Vienna, Austria

Who inspired you to make music?

Big huge inspiration has been for me the music of Queen: I do love vocal parts so much. But only after discovering Grunge and Punk Rock bands we started practicing with instruments.

What is your creative process like?

Melody first. Often I have melodies on my mind and I start directly from there. With The Polpettas the creative process is a bit different but we choose the songs by the brilliant melodic part first and then time, lyrics, ect.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

We have just got a fantastic collaboration with a female singer artist on our version of NY, NY and has been amazing. She fully understood the idea of the remake Polpettas style and sang with striking energy {she is not into punkrock music at all}. It would be also great to collaborate in the future with some hip-hop / rap artists.

What is the most useless talent you have?

Useless talk-talk-talk {sometimes}

What is the most useful talent you have?

Natural Tuning check by ear.

If you could change anything in the past, what would it be?

Everything. But actually... - The Past is just a story we tell ourselves - I enjoy the present thinking Year by Year {Ein Jahr, Ein Leben}

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

Internet is an active tool. TV is a passive tool. The real issue is how humans use Internet. A good side of it is that via Social Media we musicians can spread our ideas around.

What’s next for you?

Travelling... I am a kind of vagabonda and with the good season I am definitely ready to travel again {an American East Coast Tour with The Polpettas in 2022 is more than possible}

What do you know about Austria?

We come from the Venetian area in Italy so we used to visit Villach and the Southern Austrian regions. Also we have performed at University of Wien in 2009 with other bands and I lived there in 2015/16.

The Polpettas are ....?

The Polpettas are two Lifetime friends and musicians devoted to music - Passion is the main driving force :}
