‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Who inspired you to make music?

john williams, queen, silverchair

What is your creative process like?

it used to be just sing, play guitar or piano and write, then it turned into try to compose a song whilst producing it. now its heading towards a "lyrics first" approach

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

anyone open hearted and that works passionately on any component of their craft

What is the most useless talent you have?

being able to come up with song ideas without any effort. writing a GOOD song requires a lot more emotion and effort.

What is the most useful talent you have?

my voice, it helps me hear the emotions buried within my body

If you could change anything in the past, what would it be?

nothing. ive suffered enough trying to fix the past. changing it wouldn't allow me to have the perspective I have today.

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

there are too many people out there faking their success, boosting numbers, there just a fuck ton of wannabes and not enough quality art being produced. I'm guilty of this.

What's next for you?

therapy

What is the message you want to give to your listeners?

i really appreciate you giving your time to listen to my music, i would appreciate it more i was with you, sharing that experience and maybe talking about life in general.

What do you know about Austria?

goulash and mothers cake, one is a traditional Austrian dish, the other is an EXCELLENT and under appreciated rock trio of whom I partied with at The Espy in St Kilda and broke stuff with whilst partying in 2014. rock on Yves, Benny and Jan ❤️
