The Artist: Alex Julia - "Like the sun"

Julia’s debut EP Better Part Of Me released independently on September 19, 2020. BPM reached airwaves both domestically and internationally, on popular college radio and charts, including KXLU and WMCX. The top three singles, still in rotation, What’s Going On, Better Part of Me, and A Beautiful Escape put Julia on the map, for which the debut single What’s Going On received animated treatment in the acid-trippy music video. The EP received high praise with The Bay Area Reporter and even made it as a featured recipe on Pinterest, in which the author paired the music with a Hawaiian-style pizza... because... as Alex Julia simply put it, she’s “different.” It was this inclusion, that’s interesting to note, which inspired Julia’s Live Music Pizza blog, to help other artists gain momentum.

Like the Sun

Bereits mit Ende Mai veröffentlichte Alex Julia, die aus Asbury Park,NJ stammende und wirklich begabte Künstlerin, ihre Single "Like the sun".
“I’m like a lost soul, I’m always in the dark/You light me up and give me a spark", singt sie. Eigenständigkeit, Licht und die Erfüllung zu finden als Thema. Ihre Stimme gleicht einer verlorenen Seele zumindest an manchen Stellen, quasi sich der Einsamkeit hingebend, um dann wieder eigenständig stark und unabhängig aufzustehen. Auch die Melodien und Riffs der Gitarre sprühen wie Funken der Hoffnung heraus, das Ganze wird von der Rhythmussektion in die perfekte Balance gebracht und dort mit dem richtigen  Groove versehen. Immer wieder sorgen die arrangierten Gegensätze wie z.B. das Piano zusammen mit Julias rauer/rauchiger Stimme für Abwechslung. Dadurch ergibt sich/entstand ein hörenswerter Track im Genre des Indie Pop/Rocks denn man kennen sollte. So we have to say Achtung: Alex Julia ... and the sun is rising.
