Neil Armstrong’s ‘In the Borderlands’: A Nostalgic Journey Through Love and Loss

“In the Borderlands” by Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong steps onto our blog stage for the first time as an artist. His music pays tribute to the icons of the 80s, including The Cure, Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, and Howard Jones. Oscillating between the realms of Synth-Pop/Rock and New Wave, Armstrong’s transnational work, fluctuating between Spain and Scotland, is expressed in his latest piece, “In the Borderlands.” The song takes us on an introspective journey through the nuances of human relationships, unfolding the complexity of interpersonal dynamics . It exposes these nuances on the operating table of music, bringing them to life with a nostalgic touch reminiscent of the 80s, thereby endowing the work with a soul. The arrangement, inspired by the musical giants of that era, is a testament to Armstrong’s exceptional talent for composing and arranging songs. Every note, every melody in “In the Borderlands” is carefully chosen to tell a story of love: its loss and rediscovery, wit

The Artist: Beau Bowen - "Intergalactic enquiries"

Beau Bowen

The wallpaper is an interesting choice and Beau Bowen is an interesting band. A duo, with new music combining Opera, Hip-hop, Psychedelic Rock and Pop. Beau Bowen’s sound is made audible with a kitsch kissed production style and brought to life on stage.

The band are Dru & Kay - an Operatic Pixie Queen and a Rock Demon, together in harmony like never before. Their new album ‘Flame Of Love’ drops this year - an absolute must hear.

Intergalactic enquiries

So we have to say Achtung: Beau Bowen are here to sound and look intergalactic. Im nachfolgenden Interview erfahrt ihr ein wenig mehr über das bemerkenswerte Duo.

Q&A

Beau Bowen is...?

... music from the heart of two unusual creatures. Avant-garde pop is how our music is usually described, we like to describe it as the best music in the world.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

Our wonderful parents who’s musicality and love has set us up for life.

...and especially to the song "Intergalactic enquiries"?

Intergalactic enquiries came about from a desire to make an immediately happy and fun song, to make this world that little bit nicer and take the sting out of a day.

The genre mix sounds great, do you have a favorite genre?

We love all genres. Our tastes are wide an eclectic. As Sananda Maitreya said (and I’m sure many people before him) there’s only two types of music, good music and not so good music.

Also the selected sounds are amazing, how much time did you spend to find the right ones?

Tone searching is such a joy for us. We will usually get results we’re happy with by the end of the day, whether that be one sound or the majority of a track.

Could we expect more songs like this one in the future?

Certainly, we have an album ready to drop and several singles coming out.

When do you decide that a song is ready for a release?

There’s that famous quote we find pertinent: “When is a song finished? It’s never, you just stop.”

What is your creative process like?

Luminous. We delve deep into each other a pull out things we never knew where there, channeling this energy through our fingers into crunchy synths.

What is the most useful talent you have?

The joy of being able to sing and play will always be at the top and allow for other skills to be utilised.

How do you feel the Internet (especially Social Media platforms) has impacted the music business?

It’s fantastic, it gives everyone a fair crack at the whip. The wrestling match is now open to all.

What’s next for you?

We have singles dropping throughout September and October with an album dropping on the 10th of November + album release concert at The Half Moon in Putney on that date. Keep up to date with all our releases by following us on social media @beaubowenarewe
