Padjo Dolan is ...?
I am a rock musician/singer/songwriter from County Clare in the West of Ireland. (A Surfers dream in the summer!) I spent most of my teenage years in and out of college bands etc and decided recently to get in the studio and record some of my own stuff! My current 9-5 is construction which is keeping the music dream alive for now!
Hazel Eyes
Hazel Eyes or let's get electrified by Padjo Dolan.
Q&A
"Hazel Eyes" sounds really great, what or who was the inspiration?
Thanks very much! I was lucky enough to spend some time in the states a few years ago and the idea of packing your life into a suitcase and heading down to Mexico for a new start is something that really stuck with me. I guess Hazel Eyes is really about following your heart and not being afraid to risk it all if you were given that opportunity.
Could we expect more songs like "Hazel Eyes" in the future?
Yes absolutely, I have been very fortunate to work with some of the best musicians and producers in Ireland over the last 18 months, all in Camden recording studios in the heart of Dublin City. My debut album is nearing completion and it features plenty of high-energy, no-nonsense, rocking tracks!
What do you prefer: a live gig or a studio session?
This is a tough question! It is hard to beat the feeling of performing in front of a live audience, sometimes everything clicks, and moments of magic can happen. Personally, I love getting in the studio to bring my ideas to life. If you get it right in the studio people can relive that moment again and again.Do you remember the first ever Rock song you have listened to?
My first memories of rock music are from the passenger seat of my mother's rusty Ford Fiesta as a very young chap. That car was such a banger, parts would regularly fall off while the car was in motion. I think the only thing that didn’t break on it was the stereo where Bon Jovi, U2 and Springsteen would regularly feature!
What's next for you?
My immediate focus is getting my original music out in the world, I really feel like there is a place for some high-energy rock songs as we begin to return to normality. Of course, I am really looking forward to playing some live shows and festivals over the coming months and it would be great to build a following in Europe and further afield.
