The Fear of Omnipresent Observation: ‘The Crawling Eye’ by The Silence Industry

‘The Crawling Eye’ by The Silence Industry On this very Friday, we whisk you away into the sublime yet shadow-laden realm of Goth Rock, where the heart of Post-Punk beats incessantly. The Silence Industry has recently set a benchmark with ‘The Crawling Eye’ that other artists will find difficult to surpass in the foreseeable future. Endowed with an impressive back catalog,  The Silence Industry approaches a topic of grave seriousness in their latest release. The track addresses omnipresent surveillance, shedding light on its profound implications as well as the personal apprehensions it evokes.   Musically, Graham Jackson creates a scene of distressing perfection, where elements of Death-Rock leave us breathless and the fear of omnipresent observation becomes palpable. Driven by a dark Post-Punk aura, Graham rises with a performance at the microphone that recalls memories of Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke). The artist not only succeeds in maintaining the tension for nearly seven minutes b

Greg Bounce

The man behind much-loved London band Cocoa Futures, Greg Bounce headed to Lisbon for a brief change of scene after the end of a long relationship – and ended up making the Portuguese capital his home. Able to work remotely and far away from a Britain turned sour by Brexit and Boris, Greg Bounce’s new musical project has clearly been influenced by Lisbon’s easy vibes and fantastic creative scene.
His debut solo single, the eco-conscious electronica of ‘Fear That Love’, was enthusiastically received by radio and reviewer alike, being playlisted on Amazing Radio while Earmilk described it as “swirling with catchy and vibrant sonics”. Now, its follow-up, ‘Can I Now Feel?’ is certain to spread the good word further. And there’s plenty more to come from an artist whose new surroundings have stimulated a burst of prolific songwriting, with both EP and album releases in the pipeline.

Can I Now Feel?

"Can I Now Feel?", I was thinking about the corners in our lives and how embracing the unknown – for good or bad – feels like an important part of a healthy life.”, sagt Greg selbst darüber.
"Can I Now Feel?" by Greg Bounce is hiking thru' the 80ies to bring us back some good stuff from there.

Q&A

Greg Bounce is...?

A Lisbon-based man who writes a song or two.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

It's exciting to make something, isn't it. It didn't feel like a big choice, more of a slow, gradual thing that over time felt like it could be nice and people wouldn't laugh at me too much.

...and especially to the song "Can I now feel"?

Feeling pretty summery you know, down here in Lisboa. Loving the idea of moving on.

"Can I now feel" has a bit of an 80s touch, is it one of your favorite decades (concerning music)?

Yes. There's a lot of unfinished business.

What is your creative process like?

Really, really slow. Any tips on speeding it up, let me know 🙈

When do you decide that a song is ready for a release?

Great question. Usually when I feel like it's on a one way train to bangersville.

Do you remember your first ever self written song?

I try not to.

What was the first ever Pop/Rock song you listened to?

Probably Madonna ❤️ Borderline, maybe? Or Estefan. I love Estefan!

What do you prefer, a live gig or a studio session?

I like a good slow think and a play in a studio.

What’s next for you?

Two more songs I think, coming pretty soon. One is slow, and one sounds like Match of the Day.
