...is the Bristol-born producer and songwriter Sam Jackson and presents the work of his new solo project Einsam, written during four years living in Vienna.

The word Einsam means solitary in German (literally ‘one-some') and so seemed appropriate for a solo project by someone called Sam, but also fitting with themes of connection to and disconnection from people, places and language.



At Eye Level

Mit "Train of thought" war mir Einsam das erste Mal aufgefallen, jetzt ist er zurück mit seiner neuesten Veröffentlichung "At eye level". Der Song ist der erste aus seiner Debüt-EP "Samantics", vier Lieder die das Sehen und die Art des Sehens betrachten bzw. behandeln. Ein Lied über Repräsentation, wie wir die Welt sehen und wie wir bei anderen in Erscheinung treten.
"How do I look? How do I see?" wird unter anderen im Refrain gefragt. Musikalisch erinnert es mich an die Anfang 90er, vor allem an die Band Stereo MCs. Die Mischung aus Uptempo Groove und den nicht alltäglichen Synth-sounds mündet in einem hörenswerten Soundszenario. Die Gitarre im Zusammenspiel mit dem "Spoken part", gegen Ende des Tracks, sorgt nochmals für Abwechslung bevor dann alles schlagartig zum Erliegen kommt.
"At Eye Level" von Einsam bestätigt die mehr als guten Ansätze der Vorgängertracks und kann diese sogar noch verbessern, mit der neuesten Veröffentlichung gelingt ihm eine weitere Steigerung, welche mich natürlich neugierig auf weitere Releases macht. "At Eye Level" by Einsam where finest Electro Pop meets Alternative Pop to climb to the next level.
