...is a collaboration of Canadian singer/songwriter JORDANA MOON together with German electronic synthesizer musician and composer TOM ARIES.
From the moment of inception, this collaboration became a very exciting and energizing project. We hold similar outlooks on life. We love the same music, the same movies and enjoy being long down, intriguing rabbit holes. 
So we are thinking; let`s keep going with this collaboration because we think it will give us a great foundation to explore our creative instincts, our highest message and share our truest artistry. 
So we became: MOON AND ARIES!



Cold

Transformation und Wiedergeburt, das Erwachen der Seele und die Schöpfung bzw. der Schöpfer welcher dich beim "Hinübergehen" begleitet als großes Thema. Die letzte Veröffentlichung von Moon and Aries widmet sich den "Angels and Spirits" um uns herum. 
Ein Song voller Hoffnung mit Ausblick auf ewigen Frieden. Vielleicht kommen wir wieder und wenn, in welcher Form, auf welche Art. Moon and Aries tauchen in diese spirituelle Materie ein, schaffen quasi ein Opus der Wiederkehr, die Synergie zwischen der Nostalgie des 80er Retro Sounds und der Gegenwart bildet das Thema musikalisch perfekt ab, die romantisch, fast fragil wirkenden Vocals geben dem Stück einen Hauch Zerbrechlichkeit mit, zerbrechlich wie das Leben selbst. 
Es ist die Kombination, Jordana und Tom, "the best of two worlds" sozusagen, dass hier in einem Song aufeinandertrifft und zu einem Stück Hoffnung kollidiert. "Cold" by MOON AND ARIES a ray of hope in our dark hours!

Who inspired you to make music in general ...and especially to the song "Cold"?

German electronic synthesizer musician and composer TOM ARIES
Of course we are mainly influenced by the 80s. Music and movies. But we love musicians like ABBA, David Bowie, Queen, Bee Gees, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Portishead, Röyksopp - a very wide variety! LOL.
We both love Trip hop so much. But we do not like to categorise music in genres. Our genre? Maybe really a mix of Synth Pop / Trip hop opera or musical. ;-)

Cold is a song about transformation and rebirth. The awakening of your soul, coming out of a frozen slumber, walking into the warm light of a better life. Our Cold, lonely and dark nights, eventually change with the tides, and comes with the reminder that we're never alone, and the Creator, angels, and spirits around us, are always waiting with an open hand to help us cross over to a life with more love and comfort. We hope our song Cold, brings a sense of hope and peace to the world.


What is your creative process like and was it different for this song?

Canadian singer/songwriter JORDANA MOON
Our song development is very interesting and funny: The first composition is always a little piano melody. Composed by me. I am sending this melody to Jordana to talk about her feelings and lyric / vocal ideas via chat or video call.
After this: I am developing a complete instrumental version. Always with Jordana`s voice in my mind and heart. Then I am sending the complete file to Jordana and she starts to work on the final lyrics and the final vocals. She is a brilliant writer and singer (especially her ability to create wonderful harmonies in the vocal files.
After working on the final song via file sharing from Germany to Canada and back again: Our friend Chris Kung (from a Toronto based music production studio) is doing the final mix- and mastering.


What's your most useful talent besides music?

Good question! Maybe we both believe in positivity and positive energy. We both have the talent to share this positive energy and to try to make the world every day a bit better.


How would you describe 2021 in a sentence?

2021 was a rollercoaster year - a lot of ups and downs. (COVID19, travel restrictions, reduced live playing options for artists, etc.).
But MOON AND ARIES were founded in 2021. So for us: The beginning of a new journey. :)


What was the first ever Pop/Rock/etc. ... song you listened to or remember on?

We both do not remember one specific song. But it would be 100% a song from the 80s. Because we love this music decade the most. ;-)
Maybe an ABBA song from the 70s too. OK. It will be an ABBA song. LOL.


What do you prefer, a live gig or a studio session?

LIVE!


Do you remember your first ever self-written song?

TOM: yes. A piano instrumental. With no title. Just a simple melody.


What’s next for you?

It would be great to play live on stage. Maybe some small concerts / gigs combined with maybe some art exhibitions. Or to have one of our songs as a part of a movie / TVshow soundtrack. Or to develop a musical in New York. :)
We both think that our songs are absolutely influenced by our love of movies and soundtrack love. But of course: We are working now on new songs for the 2nd album or EP. :)
