“Diving Board” by SFMD Emerging from the vibrant heart of Liège , a band has surfaced, encapsulating the quintessence of a nostalgic epoch with a contemporary flourish. SFMD, an illustrious Belgian collective hailing from the Francophone sector, has been meticulously sculpting a distinct niche within the musical cosmos, harmonizing an eclectic fusion of Synthwave and pop elements. Incepted in the twilight of the 2000s, SFMD has unveiled two auditory compilations that have garnered acclamation from aficionados within Belgium and the international expanse. "Aiming High" by Klashing Black

Klashing Black

Klashing Black is comprised of twin brothers Kane and Kyle Benner. Since 2006, they've been writing, recording, and performing original music together, developing their sound in every iteration of the group. In 2017, they became a duo and released their first EP as a two-piece called "You".

Aiming High

Q&A

Klashing Black are...?

We're twin brothers Kane and Kyle Benner out of Ohio. We've been playing music together since we were kids and have been writing our own music for the past couple years!

Who inspired you to make music in general?

It's hard to think of a direct inspiration for why we make music. We have just always loved playing it together, but some of our favorite bands are The 1975, twenty one pilots, Walk The Moon, Coldplay, Radiohead, and Mumford and Sons.

Your latest track "Aiming High" sounds impressive, the guitar break sounds like "Harmony of Life, destroyed by the chaos of the world", was this part of the song planned or developed over the time during the songwriting process?

Thank you! The heavy guitar at the end was always part of the song. We always are thinking of the live show when we are writing music, and we knew that section would be a really fun thing to play live because it's so simple and in your face.

What is your creative process like?

Our creative process usually starts with one of us bringing in a song for the other to listen to. We both might bring in five or six songs and then decide which are the strongest and work on those. We give eachother notes on our songs and slowly start changing things to make them better.

What's your most useful talent besides music?

Kyle has always enjoyed drawing and anything creative when it comes to art. Kane doesn't really have any other artistic ability other than music, but is pretty good at darts for some reason.

What do you prefer, a live gig or a studio session?

It depends on what kind of mood we're in. Playing live is the best feeling ever, but there are many more logistics involved before the show that take up most of the day. Being in the studio is fun because you get to act like a little kid and try things out, but then after it's all said and done you have to make the thing sound as good as possible, which is the hard part.

Do you remember your first ever self-written song?

Yes! We wrote a song in our bedroom when we were probably 10 or 11 years old and it was the worst song ever and we still laugh about it now.

What’s next for you?

We are just going to continue playing shows and putting out new music. We're hoping to put more music out this year than we have in any other year before!
