Electro-Pop’s Poet of Pain: Me & Melancholy Releases ‘Tears In The Rain’

‘Tears In The Rain’  by  Me & Melancholy Whenever there’s a new release from Me & Melancholy , it fills us with anticipation. This time, the artist paints a compelling portrait of human vulnerability and the complexity of interpersonal relationships.  ‘Tears In The Rain’ succeeds in capturing the essence of ephemeral beauty and the pain of the inevitable, expressing it through music. The dynamics of estrangement, articulated in the lines ‘I’m not able to reach you ’ and ‘ the more I try, the further I push you away ’, reflect a tragic irony. It feels like a dance of approach and withdrawal, prompting listeners to contemplate the paradoxes that often occur in our most intimate relationships.  The artist’s signature melancholic tone conveys a plea for acceptance and an attempt to bridge the gap created by misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Musically, Peter Ehrling navigates familiar territory, once again leveraging it to his advantage by capturing the emotional depth.   ‘Tears

"Honey" by Apple Shakers

Apple Shakers

Apple Shakers

Apple Shakers are an Alt Indie duo from East London. They pull inspiration from Indie, Psychedelia, Punk and Alt Rock which combine to create an honest and powerful guitar driven sound. ”When we‘re writing we don‘t think duo, we think big and make it work for us on stage.” -Basil-

Their sound consists of octave guitar, punchy drums and a fat bass synth which gives us that something special that’s subtle enough so people won’t be able to pin point what exactly it is that they like about it. ”Our live sound is big, powerful and unique, coupled with our energetic stage performance.” -Rory-

Honey

"Honey" by Apple Shakers and their departure to a new horizon, Punk meets Rock meets 2022, Apple Shakers on a journey, one step back for an unbelievable impressive new sound. Um ein wenig mehr über die Jungs aus East London zu erfahren, gibt's im Anschluss wie so oft einen kurzen Q&A part. Thanks for your time!

Q&A

Apple Shakers are...?

Basil: Hi Wolf, thanks for taking your time to chat with us. We are an Alt Indie duo from East London formed by the end of 2019.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

Basil: I think it was my mum/parents who also gave me the chance to play different instruments when I was very young.
Rory: My parents as well. I don’t remember one moment growing up where there was no music or the radio wasn’t on. Constantly hearing music meant that it was the obvious thing to persue in my life.

What's the story behind your latest song "Honey", respectively what was your inspiration?

Rory: Honey is a song that inspired a lot of our next singles, it unlocked a door. After listening to the Moral Panic album by Nothing But Thieves we were inspired to write a song as powerful as some of those tracks.
We sat down and played through some guitar parts and progressions, and quickly came up with the guitar riff which we instantly knew would be backed with those huge gang vocals.

What's in your opinion the most time intensive part of "writing a song"?

Basil: For us writing a song does not necessarily feel time intensive. We usually write in the studio where we immediately record the ideas and form them into a complete song. This takes slightly more time but afterwards, we have a product which we can use for post-production.

Basil, what's typical "Rory"?

Basil: He is obsessed with football and calls every day "what a day!"

...and of course, Rory, what's typical "Basil"?

Rory: He never seems to stop, so much energy for life! He also loves tapping into his ape ancestry with bouldering on a regular basis, this guy should’ve been a monkey!

What do you prefer, the stage or the studio?

Basil: We really do love both very much. Spending time in the studio and writing is very intense especially since we produce ourselves.
Playing live is where we can project all our energy without feeling exhausted so I guess I would call us a live band.

At this moment what would be your "All time Top 3 Songs"?

Rory: Top 3 songs at the moment are
Mad Visions by Royal Blood
Car Crash by IDLES
Blood in the Water by Don Broco.

What are your most useful talents besides music?

Basil: Rory makes delicious Pizza from scratch 😋

What’s next for you?

Basil: We have a bunch of shows planned in London & the UK and will bring you couple more tunes this year.
