Behind the Hedges: ‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers

‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers With ‘Life in the Burbs,’ Bridgette and Peter (aka The Dream Chasers) unfold the full range of their artistic creation. They take us on a journey through the suburbs, which includes not only the visible hedges and houses but also the hidden longings and dreams of their inhabitants. With a mix of melancholic reflection and life-affirming euphoria, they paint a multi-layered portrait. The musical accompaniment is as diverse as the emotions of the residents. From indie pop melodies that capture the quiet of a Sunday morning to powerful indie rock chords that reveal the hidden wildness behind the manicured facades, The Dream Chasers offer a soundtrack that both soothes and challenges the listener. The catchy riff in ‘Life in the Burbs’ acts as a musical guide that immediately captivates the listeners and takes them on an acoustic journey through the complex emotions of suburban life. It is the artistry with which this riff captures the essence

"Feels like yesterday" by A/V CLvB

(From left to right: Luca Petrosso, Avery Gordon, Braeden Muir)

A/V CLvB

... is an indie rock band from Plymouth, MA made up of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Avery Gordon, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Luca Petrosso, and bassist Braeden Muir. Their music takes inspiration from artists and bands such as boy pablo, Lovejoy, and The Backseat Lovers.
They take the traditional 4-piece rock band structure and build on it to make a large soundscape with keys, strings and many other instruments. Their songs cover various styles, going from piano-based ballads, to upbeat, catchy guitar riffs, and even to angrier, bass-centric songs. Each song captures a specific feeling to further the story being told in the lyrics.

Feels like yesterday

And the Journey goes on ...
"Feels like yesterday" by A/V CLvB für mich definitiv einer der Highlights in diesem Jahr. Im Anschluss gibt es noch ein kurzes Interview mit der noch jungen Band, um ein wenig mehr über sie zu erfahren.

Q&A

(AG = Avery Gordon, LP = Luca Petrosso, BM = Braeden Muir)

A/V CLvB is...?

AG: A/V CLvB is an indie rock band based out of Plymouth, MA.
It’s made up of
Avery Gordon on rhythm guitar and lead vocals,
Luca Petrosso on lead guitar and backing vocals, and
Braeden Muir on bass.
It was started in early 2022 after Avery and Luca met through a mutual friend.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

AG: My personal two biggest influences are Tyler Joseph (Twenty One Pilots) and Wilbur Soot (Lovejoy). Tyler Joseph has been an influence for a long time and he was the reason I started making music on GarageBand and playing piano when I was 13.
Wilbur Soot has been a more recent influence, as his music and influences opened me up to a lot of the indie rock style music that I listen to now. His solo album, Your City Gave Me Asthma, was a big inspiration for me, and was the reason I picked up guitar.

LP: Honestly when I started making music my inspirations were the artists around me. My parents’ love of music definitely played a part and also an intense desire to express myself. If we are talking about musical artists that inspire me I would say that Floating Points and FKJ along with more experimental jazz inspired music really gets my blood pumpin.

BM: I honestly don't really know what truly inspired me to play. My dad brought home a guitar from his work one day and the rest was history. Music has always been around me but I guess that moment kind of “unlocked” my love for it. Since then it's been Pink Floyd, Pantera, and hard times that give me most of my inspiration.

What's the story behind your latest release "Feels like yesterday", respectively what or who was your inspiration?

AG: Feels Like Yesterday’s main idea weirdly enough came from reading some comments on some YouTube video back in September. I forget exactly what the video was about, but one of the comments was saying that “it feels like yesterday...” and then went on to talk about something from their childhood. That phrase just kind of stuck with me and I was sure I could make a song out of it.
I got on my piano as soon as I could, and wrote the chorus chord progression. Most of the base production came all in that day, and the next day came the lyrics.
The lyrics were based around this person that I liked a while before, and things just slowly fell apart, and I was more confused than anything else which led to the line: “Am I too young to understand?” I left the song for a while and then around December I came back and experimented with the strings in the bridge and that made the song for me.
After that, I hired someone to play the drum part I wrote, someone to play the strings, and then skipped school to go to a small production suite in the city to record vocals.

You are from Plymouth, how would you describe the music scene there?

LP: There are quite a few performing artists and people we have met in the scene here and we are really excited to see all the new things coming out of here! The area really is vibrant with music if you know where to look.

At this moment what would be your "All time Top 3 Songs"?

AG: My all time favorite song is
Jumpsuit by Twenty One Pilots, with
The Sea Is A Good Place To Think About The Future by Los Campesinos and
Maple Syrup by the Backseat Lovers both very close behind.

LP:
Why Socialism by Albert Einstein (edited for length) by Hobo Johnson
Rainforest by NoName and
No more parties by Cream Soda
Every other song ever is objectively terrible.

BM:
Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd,
Sappy (Early Demo) by Kurt Cobain, and
In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins.

Concerning Social Media, is it fun or more a necessary evil?

AG: We have not done too much with social media yet, but what we have done has been fun. The thing I’m very excited for is that we are planning on doing some vlogs of us working on our future projects, and doing local shows and such.
YouTube is one of my favorite ways to watch content, so I really enjoy working with it.

LP: I really enjoy spending time on social media so how could it possibly be evil?! In all seriousness though I see it as a great way to find a strong fanbase and get to the heart of the people we make our music for. Other than that I spend about half my day on Tiktok anyway so it's not exactly like I'm going out of my way to participate.

What are your most useful talents besides music?

LP: I am useless for the most part, what about you Aves?

AG: I feel like my most useful talents besides music are basically all of the stuff surrounding the music. I am experienced enough with Photoshop to create a lot of the visual aspects we need for the band, like the logo, show fliers, and website designs.
Also my experience with videography should help when we eventually do music videos and the vlogs I mentioned earlier.

BM: I can skateboard if you can get me out of the house.

What’s next for you?

AG: Our next step is to find a drummer, so we can work on songs more closely together. We hope to work on around 7-8 songs over this next summer to start playing some small local shows and get more involved with the local scene.
We then hope to release around half of these in an EP, and split up the rest over a few months as singles. Very far down the line we have a concept album that I’m really excited about. It started as a personal project of mine, but it has slowly morphed into a long term goal for the band.
