Behind the Hedges: ‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers

‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers With ‘Life in the Burbs,’ Bridgette and Peter (aka The Dream Chasers) unfold the full range of their artistic creation. They take us on a journey through the suburbs, which includes not only the visible hedges and houses but also the hidden longings and dreams of their inhabitants. With a mix of melancholic reflection and life-affirming euphoria, they paint a multi-layered portrait. The musical accompaniment is as diverse as the emotions of the residents. From indie pop melodies that capture the quiet of a Sunday morning to powerful indie rock chords that reveal the hidden wildness behind the manicured facades, The Dream Chasers offer a soundtrack that both soothes and challenges the listener. The catchy riff in ‘Life in the Burbs’ acts as a musical guide that immediately captivates the listeners and takes them on an acoustic journey through the complex emotions of suburban life. It is the artistry with which this riff captures the essence

"It's alright (ft. Amara Latchford)" by Certain

Amara Latchford
Certain

Following approaching 100k Spotify streams on their first two releases, Certain are proud to present their third single ‘It’s Alright’ featuring the unique and gorgeous vocals of one Amara Latchford (Point A.) The hallmark Gavin Monaghan Magic Garden sound (Ocean Colour Scene, The Twang) makes this irresistibly feelgood Algar/Nicholas song a must have for your summer 2022 playlist.
In true Certain style, the song is accompanied by an animated video courtesy of ultra-talented Dan Crew. Revealing a little more of the Certain story, and exploring how we can struggle to communicate with each other ‘It’s Alright’ is a rallying call to anyone who ever feels like an outsider, a misfit or even a bad dancer……

It's alright

Thanks Certain for a little Masterpice of Power-Pop! Im Anschluss gibt's noch ein kurzes Interview wo man unter anderem mehr über die Story des Songs oder auch deren Inspiration erfährt.

Certain is ...?

... a collective of creators, artists and musicians celebrating the eternal power of music to lift the spirit. Each release showcases the vocal talent of a new, emerging artist and It’s Aright features the beautiful voice of Amara Latchford. Check out our other releases on Spotify to hear Taylor Stylez and Ange Lloyd.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

Certain songs are inspired by the great pop music of the 60s and 70s – the kind of music you carry with you through life. Beatles, Bacharach and David, Carole King, Motown. Songs you may not even realise you know by heart, but that can transport you to a better place in just minutes

What's the story behind your latest song "It's alright", respectively what was your inspiration?

Certain is a story with a script currently in production as a radio play and a series of interconnected animated pop videos by Dan Crew. Set against the backdrop of the casual bigotry of post Brexit, austerity Britain and with a blistering soundtrack of original songs, ‘Certain’ shows people refusing to be defined by age, culture, or class. The one thing that unites, that keeps them all hanging in there, is their love of a blinding pop song.
This song is about the relationship between two of the characters in the story who both feel like outsiders, who both have a secret personal battle and who both feel alone until they meet each other.

What's in your opinion the most time intensive part of "writing a song"?

We are a songwriting partnership, so the moment where the song is coming together can often be very intense, with both excitement and arguments in equal measure. But it’s the energy of creating something you feel passionate about that pushes you through all the fine tuning and promoting that follows, which is often the part that takes the longest time.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Bacharach, McCartney, Carole King, they would all be dreams come true. But every artist who has featured on our recordings also has the potential to become a household name and it has been a complete joy working with them.

At this moment what would be your "All time Top 3 Songs"?

Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
Be My Baby – The Ronettes
Here Comes The Sun – The Beatles

What's your most useful talent besides music?

Procrastinating. Or maybe moonwalking.
