‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

"Sea" by Said Sara

said sara (david benson)

Said Sara

...is a genuine extension of Benson’s essence. As a child of the 70’s, he grew up on the singer-songwriters of that era of emergence: Baez, Stevens, Croce, Taylor, Buckingham, Mitchell.
But Benson was/is a metalhead and a punk (yes, both) in the 80s, 90s and beyond. In 2008, he joined crust punk-turned death metal warhorse Acephalix, of which he remains the drummer. He also currently sits behind the kit for post-hardcore vs. electronic noise denomination Plaguestate.

A year ago you released "Bleedways", now you are back with "Sea", did you work on new material in the last 12 month or was it simply a break concerning music?

I literally worked on Sea for a full year! I poured everything into it.

What's the story behind your song "Sea", what was your inspiration, respectively ?

I saw a woman in a laundromat and wrote it about her. Where can relief be found when one works to serve others all day and night?

What's in your opinion the most time intensive part being an indie artist?

The promo! It's ruthless. Hearing opinions on your work from those with no background knowledge can be brutal -- though there are benefits to unbiased opinions.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Laura Viers

What are your "All time Top 3 Songs", right now, in this second?

Coldplay - Charlie Brown,
Morbid Angel - Abominations,
The Distillers - Die on a Rope.

What’s next for you?

I'm about to give it all over to Acephalix, my band of 14 years. Our new album drops in the fall and we have several shows coming up. Said Sara takes a back seat, though I'm ready to gig!
