Behind the Hedges: ‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers

‘Life in the Burbs’ by The Dream Chasers With ‘Life in the Burbs,’ Bridgette and Peter (aka The Dream Chasers) unfold the full range of their artistic creation. They take us on a journey through the suburbs, which includes not only the visible hedges and houses but also the hidden longings and dreams of their inhabitants. With a mix of melancholic reflection and life-affirming euphoria, they paint a multi-layered portrait. The musical accompaniment is as diverse as the emotions of the residents. From indie pop melodies that capture the quiet of a Sunday morning to powerful indie rock chords that reveal the hidden wildness behind the manicured facades, The Dream Chasers offer a soundtrack that both soothes and challenges the listener. The catchy riff in ‘Life in the Burbs’ acts as a musical guide that immediately captivates the listeners and takes them on an acoustic journey through the complex emotions of suburban life. It is the artistry with which this riff captures the essence

Gothic with a touch of Synthpop: DRAG & their splendid new release "Sophie"

DRAG

DRAG

... is a collaboration between Geordie born and Bristol based Anti-Art Artist Amy Crozier and Exmoor based Songwriter and Producer Leo Braukmann-Pugsley, otherwise known as ‘RED’ and ‘BLUE’. The pair have worked together for several years on a range of projects from art to events but DRAG has always been their main focus.
In their own words “fifty percent music and fifty percent aesthetics”, the two create a unique and arresting audio-visual experience. Blending hooky synth-pop with contemporary themes, they conjure 80's nostalgia whilst firmly placing themselves within a 21st century context. DRAG have recently supported Walt Disco on the Bristol date of their UK tour and have featured heavily on BBC Introducing in the South West.

Drag are ..?

RED: A red and blue 80’s goth-pop duo from Bristol, England

BLUE: Exactly that.

Who inspired you to make music in general?

BLUE: Too many people to count. For this project we’ve been super inspired by the likes of The Human League, New Order and The The. Metronomy and LCD Soundsystem also

RED: Yeah on the gothy side Bauhaus, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Damned.

Your latest release "Sophie" sounds amazing, what's the story behind?

RED: Blue originally wrote SOPHIE for a more gothy side project we’d been working on and DRAG definitely felt more bubble-gum pop at the time but we decided that, rather than keeping the two projects separate, we’d merge them together to get the gothy synthpop sound we have now.

BLUE: Yeah well we also wanted to create something a bit kind of ‘hooky’ and simpler than what we’d been doing before. It also made it kind of easier to get across live as previously we were trying to play stuff that was way too complicated.

What do you think was the last "big thing'' in the music industry?

BLUE: ‘No Music on a Dead Planet’ - that campaign is such a great idea and we hope that the industry will change and go more green because of it!

RED: My Chemical Romance

You are from Bristol, how would you describe the music scene there?

RED: Urrrm.. it’s a lot of fun and it’s pretty diverse. Anything goes really which is kinda nice. There’s a scene for anything.

Do your fans have the chance to see you somewhere live on stage?

BLUE: Well we are recording a live video at our next show which we will hopefully upload soon after.

RED: After that we’re planning a bunch of gigs across the UK at the start of September but nothing is finalised yet.

What’s next for you?

RED: I gotta make a load of merch. I’m working on a series of hand made merch pieces that i’m gonna sell when we’re on the road.

BLUE: After that we wanna go away for a bit and work on something a bit longer.. an EP probably.
