‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Hypnotic Electro flows out of the attic: "First Breath" by apanorama

apanorama

... is an electronic duo from Nuremberg/Germany. Nora and Michael started making music together shortly after they became a couple. They’ve set up their studio in the attic of their house, where they get in the flow together. Nora writes the songs on the piano, Michael implements them into electronic music in his studio.
Nora’s experimental, polyphonic vocals (for which she uses a loop machine), driving beats and spheric synth harmonies create an intimate and danceable atmosphere at their live performances. Since May 2022 apanorama is part of BY.on Elektro, a promotion of excellence program in electronic dance music in Bavaria by Verband für Popkultur in Bayern e.V.

How did you get into music, what were your first steps?

Nora and Michael started making music together shortly after they became a couple. They’ve set up their studio in the attic of their house, where they get in the flow together.
Michael had studied Bansuri (a classical Indian flute) during a long stay in India. Nora used to write songs for herself on the piano, but didn´t get a chance to release or perform them until they started apanorama.

What was/is in your opinion the last "big thing" in music history?

Huge electronic festival/gatherings/ experimental societies like Burning Man

I have read that you are a couple, how do you manage it if you are not on the same line?

We definitely have our fights, but after a short while we get together again and find solutions and compromises… our processes are probably more intense than for other bands!

Your talents besides music are ...?

Nora is an artist and she also teaches Art in school. Michael is a graphic designer and he loves Yoga.

What’s next for you?

We will be releasing our album on September 16th, two more singles and music videos will come out in the weeks before. Some nice gigs are planned as well: Bardentreffen and nbg.pop, both in Nuremberg.
The fact that we are now part of the BY.on Electro – a promotion in Electronic Dance Music in Bavaria – will also open some doors for us in the near future!
