‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Pop/Rock collides with Electro: We present "Stereoshake" from Brazil!

Stereoshake

Today we are happy to present a project named Stereoshake who was formed 2017 in Brazil. The Trio creates their own way of a great mixture of sound where Pop/Rock collides with Electro. With a typical signature of their sound they were able to surprise a lot of musicblogs and listeners around the world. So listen to their great songs and enjoy reading the interview we did.

Stereoshake are ...?

Hi, it's a great honor to be answering these questions! Let me explain what Stereoshake is:
Stereoshake is the name of the project of vocalist Mauricio Gielman (me), a musician and composer from Rio de Janeiro who mixes Rock, Pop and electronic music.
Most of Stereoshake's compositions have at their creative core the partnership of two other musicians: Guito Lua (composer) and Vinícius Fernandes (producer and multi-instrumentalist). In live performances, Stereoshake performs as a trio: Mauricio Gielman (Voice), Rogério Miranda (Guitar and backing vocals) and Hélio Ratis (Drums).

How did you get into music?

My house has always been musical, I remember listening to the radio and I remember my parents' Italian music records!
But the big turning point in my mind was with an event that took place here in Brazil, the Rock in Rio Festival in its first edition! At that moment with all the publicity and media buzz, Rock and music in general arrived with everything in my heart and mind!

Your release "Revolt" sounds amazing, what's the story behind the song?

It was born from an invitation made by the singer and songwriter @claudiah at the time we released the authorized version of the song TOM SAWYER, by the Canadian trio Rush. She really liked the sound of the version and thought about releasing something together!
And so the partnership on this song was born! The first "feat" of Stereoshake! The song is basically about not accepting everything that is imposed on us. In an almost unconscious way we are becoming human beings out of a sausage factory, all looking alike, losing the fun and the trademark of being individual!

How would you describe your creative process?

The songs are almost always born from songs made on the acoustic guitar. Usually the lyrics are written by me (Mauricio Gielman), as well as most of the melodies.
They then go to the studio and there begins the process of transformation, where the producer Vinícius Fernandes has a fundamental role so that the music takes the sound direction that is characteristic of Stereoshake!

Is there a chance to see you somewhere live?

Yes! We are back in rehearsals and soon we will be back on stage! But for now, people can see some videos of live performances and Lives we did during the pandemic on our Youtube Channel!

The last song where you turned up the volume was ...?

I always turn up the volume on those songs that mostly marked my adolescence and it is the phase of life that I think ends up being your musical DNA for the rest of your life!
But other than those songs from the past, two bands made me turn up the volume when I heard them lately: the song "Zitti e Buoni" by the wild boys from Mäneskin bringing the Rock and Roll with all their signature and style of being and the whole last album of the band "Bastille", called "Give me the Future"! Sensational!

What’s next for you?

We are in the mastering and cover design phase of our new single! I will tell you firsthand the name of the single! It will be called "Checkmate"!
For now that's all I can say!
