Nostalgic Authenticity: “Big Time” by Rogue FX and Mayah Camara

“Big Time” by Rogue FX and Mayah Camara Today, we’re opening the gates to our blog in classic style – classic '80s synth-pop, to be precise. Whenever the words ‘80s’ and ‘synth-pop’ are mentioned, Rogue FX is never far behind. Drawn to the essence of that decade, he dives deep to retrieve a flawless pearl and then showcases it in his musical shop window.  His latest track is called “Big Time,” a collaborative project with Retrowave/Nu-Soul artist Mayah Camara . The story revolves around a relationship at a crossroads, caused by the success and fame of one partner who has reached the “big time” mentioned in the title. Jealousy and insecurity take hold, but there’s a shared hope that the relationship can survive and grow.  Rogue FX cleverly packages this story in the big-city vibe of the '80s, creating an emotional counterpoint to the relationship through his astute selection of sound and rhythm – the big-time lifestyle of that era. From the start, the listener experiences the

Ups and Downs of a Relationship: "Second chances" by Kinga Angelys

"Second chances" your latest single creates such an optimistic Pop atmosphere, what was your inspiration for the song?

Kinga Angelys, singer-songwriter
So great to hear that! This song was actually inspired by an older couple I sang a private balcony concert for during the pandemic. It was a gift for their wedding anniversary and it was their second marriage…to eachother. They separated for years but found their way back to eachother again later in life.
“Second Chances” is about committing to the idea that relationships go through ups and downs and to accept and even celebrate the imperfections along the way. They believed that was the key to long term, lasting relationships. Of course we can’t always control the outcomes. And Obviously there are different types of mistakes.
However we live in such a cancel culture- someone makes a mistake and we give up on them, cut them off, block them, fire them, shame them etc. But I think there are times when we should just “leave the past behind” and move forward focusing on our positive qualities and potential instead of the pain. The inspiration stems from that- it’s a different kind of love song.

The tropical touch or/and the Ukulele gives the track the right summer feeling, how would you describe the perfect Summer (as a Canadian)?

Thank you so much:) My perfect summer is definitely spent every year at our family cottage in Muskoka. Not only is it a special place filled with making memories and music, I love the nature and wilderness.
We’ve got sunshine, swimming, barbecue, boat rides, campfire, and the occasional bears, moose and snakes😃 I write a lot of my songs there.

What's your favorite Venue in Hamburg and do your fans have the chance to see you somewhere live on stage?

Kinga Angelys, Canada
There are some wonderful stages for songwriters and artists in Hamburg. The ones I play at most frequently are the PonyBar, Freundlich und Kompetent, Gruner Jagr and The VillageOne day I would love to play at Birdland.
Elbphilharmonie is an incredible venue to experience a concert. I am currently on holidays in Canada, but usually post my live gigs on Instagram stories!

What's in your opinion the most underrated song?

There isn’t just one for me but many. I hear SO many fantastic originals by talented independent artists and composers that go unnoticed on a regular basis.
Unfortunately a lot of independent music will never get the recognition it deserves. I am intentional about supporting smaller artists and grateful to blogs such as yours for giving us a chance to be heard.

...and last but not least what are your plans for the near future?

I have a couple more releases lined up, am recording another song in the studio this summer, and I am planning on working on an acoustic album next year with Ukelele. I am also working on an EP of lullabies so stay tuned on my socials for more to come 🤗
