Technoesque Poesie: "Stern" by Jioni , ENNA

Electro meets Alternative Pop: "Tell me your secret" by Tricia Lo

Tricia Lo, Artist

Tricia Lo

... is an alternative-pop artist, songwriter, and music producer from the Baltic States. After graduation from The Academy of Contemporary Music (UK) had been working as a ghost music producer, singer, and songwriter for almost a decade in her own bedroom studio in Riga.
In earlier years, Tricia was a lead singer of the Bessonido band, which released an EP through Grade 9 Records non-profit music label under EMI and Warner Brothers back in 2011. Her bedroom-produced songs have been broadcasted on Latvian radio stations and been played in brand stores, restaurants, gyms, and cafes around the world including Mark & Spencer, SportsDirect, KFC, and many more.

Tricia Lo is...?

...is an alternate version of Patricia Lomako (which is my real name). Who I am? I'm a singer, songwriter, and music producer mainly of electro-pop and alternative pop music, based in Latvia, Baltic States. Also, I have to be honest with you... I love animals & pets more than people, haha. Please excuse me for that!

How did you find music or would you rather say the music found you?

Oooh, I've always loved singing as far as I remember myself... I remember how I spent my days singing along with the songs played on the radio. I was sooo into Western pop music in my childhood (even though I couldn't really understand the meaning behind the songs in English, haha). To say that Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Avril Lavigne, and Black Eyed Peas made my childhood is to say nothing!

What or who was your inspiration for your new release "Tell me your secret"?

Have you ever met somebody who seemed just perfect? There is that type of persona that we humans have a tendency to idolize & blindly follow without realizing that we have no clue who these people truly are. "Tell Me Your Secret" is about human nature to fall for bad people & follow them for their own cynical self-interest.
I wrote this song when I was really sick with COVID and my only entertainment was laying in bed and at times, watching TV shows whenever my brain could possibly process any incoming information, lol. I was watching "Inventing Anna" and got really inspired by the story of Anna Sorokin who scammed her way across New York as a fake German heiress named Anna Delvey. I'd say, sometimes it's hard to believe that these people actually exists because you don't get to meet them (luckily). However, they are out there and everyone has a chance to fall for somebody like Anna.

When do you decide/say that a song is finished?

I used to do my own mixing and I'm sure many producers will agree, that it's so hard to stop and define when the track is ready. Mixing can really drive you crazy, I'm not joking!
Last year I decided that I'm no longer doing this on my own for various reasons - I do way too much by myself starting from songwriting & finishing with video production, and I spent tooooooo much time figuring out when the track is finished & whether it sounds good or not
Now, when I don't have that "sitting on my shoulders" it's much easier to be realistic and finish songs quicker.

How would you describe the Indie Scene in Riga?

Unfortunately, I can't share many exciting things about the Indie music scene in Riga, since overall, we've always had limited opportunities for live music performances.
The city is really small and the major venues mainly accept popular Latvian musicians, leaving almost no space for indie musicians. If I really want to perform live, it's best to go elsewhere - Germany, the Netherlands, or the UK.

What's in your opinion the most underrated song?

Oh wow, I think there is a ton of fantastic & underrated music... So, my list would be long! However, I've been a big fan of "Made You Cool" by Sam Tinnesz and truly think it deserves more attention and recognition! If you haven't heard the song, I can guarantee you'll like it!

What's next for you?

Working on releasing more music that I truly enjoy & am passionate about! I had been producing songs for many years but not always that music was something I personally WANTED to produce/release, coz we all need to earn money, and unfortunately, it's hard to earn if your music doesn't fall under the mainstream category.
