‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

PrYmary Colours are ... ?

... an injection of love, sparkle and music in the form of soulful vocals, colourful performances & exciting beats.

What's the story behind your latest release "I'm here now", what was your inspiration?

PrYmary Colours, Ireland
Our latest release tells the personal journey of a coloured person (Cayisha) growing up in Ireland. It talks about the challenges and overcomings of prejudices in society.
But mostly, it’s a song of hope & success. Style-wise, the inspiration came from Italo Disco & New wave synth-pop music. All of our music puts out a positive message- It’s in our blood- It’s our philosophy.

How would you describe your creative process?

The songwriting process depends on the theme. Often if it’s a personal story, whereby Cayisha takes the realm, & Daz follows with music production- As in the latest release, “I’m Here Now”
However, a lot of the time the music comes first & the lyrics follow. But usually, it’s a joint effort. Often our themes focus on diverse groups in society.

Any chance to see you somewhere live on stage?

PrYmary Colours, live
Playing live gigs, you can usually find us playing at most festivals in Ireland. We have a few Dublin dates coming up.
Keep an eye on socials for incoming announcements. Or keep an eye out for our silver sparkley dancers & lights, dancing all over Ireland's music scene!!!!

Being Indie in Ireland is ...?

... great, as we can move in & out of different genres. It allows us freedom of expression & lets us be as creative as we like.

What' next for you?

We have a few things coming up. A few Dublin dates, one more single release next year, one or two gigs abroad, but most excitingly an album that we have started & hope to finish in the next year or so. We have a few more projects we’re working on, but you’ll just have to wait & see.
