"Compassion!?" by Jean-Luc Delmonac Provocative, rebellious, confrontational - welcome to the new song by Jean-Luc Delmonac entitled 'Compassion!' Musically arranged and a realized in an extremely funky way, you almost feel transported to the Copacabana, indulging in the rhythms. But there is more to it than just good music; the lyrics express a strong rejection of social expectations and norms, especially in relation a to compassion and political correctness. In the song ‘Compassion!’, Jean-Luc Delmonac shows a clear indifference to the opinions and judgments of others, underlined by the repeated emphasis on ‘ No Compassion ’ and ‘ I don't give a damn ’. The language is direct and blunt, necessary to express the protagonist's frustration and resistance to the social and political landscape. Terms such as ‘ racist ’, ‘ Nazi ’, and ‘ LGBT ’, along with mentions of violence and vandalism, reinforce the intensity and urgency of the message. Overall, the text

Achtung 80's VIBES: "Merryman" by Bromsen
Who are "Bromsen" and how did you get into music?
Karlo and Richard have made music since their teenager years, growing up with Nirvana, Oasis, then doing the time warp back to the 60’s /70’s being into that huge pool of great bands and artists like the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Beach Boys, Doors, Dylan, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits etc etc.. - that mixture built the basis of the sound from their previous band „the Pampelmuse“ which was one of these typical young bands with the aim to become the "greatest band ever."
That band split up in 2006 after a fun & exhausting time. Richard & Karlo grew older, getting more relaxed about things and also listened to a broader range of music, including all the 80’s stuff and electronic music in general. Mixing that whole bit up and adding a portion of humour, melancholy and the joy of life forms the unique Bromsen sound. The „Merryman“ will surely be one of the key elements of their upcoming album which they plan to release in spring/summer 2023.
"Merryman" sounds amazing, Synthwave meets Indie Pop for a dance, what was your inspiration, what's the story behind the song?
The song was initially created as a typical popsong - Karlo recorded a demo version of the song, sent it to Richard who went back to Karlo the next day, letting him know that he is constantly hearing it and that it is very catchy. Richard then created the guitar arrangement and in the first stage it was a classical pop rock structure which they both liked but Richard was still not 100 % satisfied, saying that there is still some unused high potential in the song.
Then in the next version when Richard added the characteristic synth elements, especially with the intro in the beginning both immediately knew that this is it.
How would you describe your creative process?
Usually Karlo comes to Richard with the basic framework of a song which can be played on an acoustic guitar and when Richard falls in love with the structure of the song he shuts himself off for a few days in the studio and then fully arranges the song.
What's in your opinion one of the most underrated songs?
Karlo: "True Blue" by Luka Bloom a great Irish Songwriter who never got the fame he deserved (but maybe not even wanted (actually his whole album „turf“ is a masterpiece).
Richard: "Too Many Birds" from Bill Callahan, a very good song which appeals to me emotionally - it is pure, raw and authentic and Bill has a timbre that is rarely found.
The last big "turning point" in music history was …?
The digitalisation as it has changed so many things and amongst others allowed us to produce, promote and distribute our music ourselves. And not to forget the formation of Bromsen.
...and of course what’s next for you?
Karlo: Fun, fun, fun and exciting times. Actually we are in love with the songs we create and it is such an amazing feeling to see how they make their first steps, like a baby and then learn walking and become independent and adult.
Richard: I am very much looking forward to the next creative processes in the studio and the release of our album, which will be bromsing up the lives of many people :).
