From Digital Scams to Musical Triumphs: The Story Behind Single Audio Channel’s ‘My Beloved Friend’

“My Beloved Friend” by Single Audio Channel As we lie in the grass, gazing up at the vast expanse of the sky, a wave of Indie-Brit-Pop melodies envelops us, transporting us back to the genre’s golden era. It’s a moment that teeters on the edge of sentimentality, where one could easily get lost in the longing to experience that groundbreaking sound for the very first time. Amid the verdant tapestry of sound, a sanctuary emerges in the form of Single Audio Channel’s inaugural anthem, “My Beloved Friend.” This composition transcends mere auditory addition, it heralds the renaissance of Indie and BritPop’s core ethos. The track distinguishes itself immediately, adorned with guitar riffs that not only strike a chord of recognition but also exude a profound veracity. A sophisticated symphony, a nuanced nod to the past, yet boldly imprinted with the here and now. The riffs are not mere vibrations; they are the very essence of Indie spirit, timeless, yet refreshingly genuine. The inspiration

ISIDORE

Who are the humans behind ISIDORE?

ISIDORE is a Avant-pop band that included four humans :
Noé Chalon (synths),
Antoine Rotthier (drums),
Lucas Deru (double bass) and
myself (lead vocal and piano).

What are your main influences?

ISIDORE, Belgium
There are plenty of influences going through ISIDORE. Mainly, it’s about dreams and passed experiences. I always write about really personal things. I passed by several family bereavements these four last years. Every single chapter of that pushed me to write a lot. I am a cinematographer so it’s a pleasure to create visual atmospheres. I am super influenced by these « inner visuals » to write and compose.
Musically speaking, I am influenced by artists like Radiohead, Agnès Obel, Tame Impala, Bjork, Tristan (Belgian artist). There’s also an Austrian band called « 5K HD » that I like a lot. Their work are brillant and sophisticated, I totally felt in love with them. I wish we could open for them one day. Maybe in Austria, who knows ?

"Parade" is an impressive experimental electro track, how difficult was it to keep the energy/the flow from the start to the end?

The story about Parade is a bit special because the early version of it has been composed during an evening with my friend Noé. He came to me with an electronic beat (kind of trip-hop) he created few time ago and I put a bass line with a synth. That bass line became the piano line.
The double bass line was originally played with an electric guitar. I suggested the idea to bring this draft to live version with ISIDORE. We had a lot of fun making both version of the song.

How much time do you invest in finding the right sounds for a song?

Finding right sounds is a really complicated part of the production. We are focusing about creating sounds landscapes. It’s important for us to set an atmosphere using sounds. We are really open for experimentations so it gives a bunch of possibilities.
Operating like this is super interesting but it would be easy to get lost so I try to keep the essence of the song as it was spontaneously popped up in my mind. Noé is the « sound-architect » of the band. I come with melodies (mostly a piano and a singing line) then he ingeniously builds an identity around that.

What can our readers expect from your upcoming EP?

ISIDORE, new music
Readers, you will fall into a hole where nobody falls. "Land of Virgin Emotions » is a sound tunnel with no chorus and no verse ( except for GURU). The EP sounds like tales and every songs is a different chapter about esoterica experiences. It’s about sleeping paralysis (TERROR), a travel in the world of the deceaseds (L.O.V.E.) or manipulation (GURU).
It’s an invitation to travel to « The Other Side » for 17 minutes. I take the floor as many evil characters. By the way, one thing as to be mentioned : it always finish with an happy ending !

I have read the Video Clip is 100% DIY, how much hours did you spend on it (approx)?

It’s so hard to reply to that question but it took more than 7 sessions of shooting at night and 4 days of post-production.
One evening, I started filming myself in my mother’s living room in order to make camera tests. I put the shots in an editing software and I tried some weird effects to enjoy myself. There was something really exciting about the idea of making a no cost and experimental video clip. A good friend of mine (Marie Schrevens) assisted me for the craziest shots where I couldn’t make the sets alone like the one with painting flowing all over my face or when I am hang in the tree.

Any chance to see you somewhere live on stage?

Actually we are preparing ourselves for some gigs in Belgium but nothing for the moment in Austria. If we could manage to book a tour and pass thought Vienna or Linz it would be such a blast.

...and last but not least what's next?

The only thing I can say is to stay focus on our social medias because a bunch of content will be drop from now. We collaborated with two other great musicians from Belgium and we are cooking something special for you. I am already working on new songs and I want us to maximise the quality of the arrangements and the composition. Being an artists for me is putting myself out of the confort zone and always give my best to improve in every way.
