‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Bands of the Year!

1 Todd & Karen

.... is the moniker under which Norwegian-Irish pop musicians Øyvind Berge (formerly of Sir Øyvind Berge & His Imaginary Orchestra) and Ina Verdi-Ruckstuhl release their quirky, ironic and melodious indie – often set in the imaginary world of Beardsley Boulevard.
The duo met in 2017 as they both worked as teachers at the same international school in Kongsberg, Norway. After becoming members of the social committee at work they soon realized they had the same love for music and quirky British humour. After having played with this privately – and within the social committee at work – a thought of taking it further started growing. In 2020, the plans started to come to fruition and the idea of the fictional universe Beardsley Boulevard started to take shape.

2 Attic Theory

Deep from the grungy depths of Liverpool’s dock roads come award-winning rockers Attic Theory. With grooves deeper than the river Mersey itself, vocalist Lewis Wright is joined by guitarists Peter Donnelly, Tim Cunningham and Matt Lawler, bass player Kenny McArthur and Norm Walker on drums. Together they perform their self-proclaimed genre of Alternative Groove Rock; post-grunge infused with the charm of rock 'n' roll..

3 DRAG

... are a Bristol based band with a unique blue/red aesthetic and hooky synth-pop tunes. Self-described 'coloured-in goths', they conjure 80's nostalgia whilst firmly placing themselves within a 21st century context. DRAG have recently supported Walt Disco on the Bristol date of their UK tour and have featured heavily on BBC Introducing in the South West.

4 Young Astronaut

... were formed in 2012 by brothers Chris & Pete Boakes.
