Aggressive Soccer Moms
... is a Lo-Fi Post Punk band from Stockholm, Sweden. “ASM” was formed in 2018 and concists of Anders Bergström, Thomas Wahlström and Stefan Wistrand. They have their roots in the early punk movement of the late Seventies. The band is very creative and are making their music in the spur of the moment. All songs and lyrics are written by the three members.
Who are Aggressive Soccer Moms and what's the story behind the band name?
"ASM" started as duo and become a trio for the upcoming album. We are old school punk rockers from sweden. We have played in different bands since 1976. "ASM" was formed 4 years ago by me, Anders, and Thomas. We wanted to play post punk. To this album we wanted a third memeber. We asked Stefan, saxophone, and he was on.
I had two demands for our band name. Three words and one should be "Soccer". And Thomas suggested "ASM". That's it.
"That's how I feel" sounds amazing, very Cure-esque, I'd say, what was your inspiration?
Our single before "It's Not Love" sounds even more like "Cure". And thats kind of fun. I, Anders, who compose all the music have never listen to Cure. I've heard them on radio and MTV but never bought a record. The singer, Thomas, adore them. Our main inspirations are The Fall, Velvet Underground, Gentle Marble Giants.
What is your creative process like?
We discuss how we wont the next album to sound and then I, Anders, comes up with the songs. And Thomas comes up with the lyrics. We work VERY fast. Composing and recording normaly takes a week for an album.
It's the first single from the upcoming album, what can we expect?
You'll hear the saxophone. And you will hear it on all the tracks. We tried to play "jazz" but we failed. And result is the album.
Nowadays you have to be active on the "Socials", is it fun or more a necessary evil?
We love it!!

It's odd. For us it is odd. Everybody is so young. Our listerners are mostly Americans.

What’s next for you?
The upcoming album is our seventh. We really want to come up with our live act. So we must rehearse. But we do have another single release before the album. A song called "Darling".
