"Joke of the Season" by Springworks

The Canadian duo Springworks have been making strange melodies together over many years, motivated mostly by the desire to hear them. The song 'Joke of the Season' was inspired by a feeling that the songs they had been hearing at the time were often, if not always, very much sounding one like the next. Nudging towards and a reaction to that feeling you get when you've been eagerly told the same joke too many times. What was intended to entertain begins to provoke ire out of sheer repetition. Joke of the Season was a corrective to that feeling, an attempted remedy to the creeping ennui.

Vom Gefühl inspiriert, dass Songs, über einen gewissen Zeitraum, sehr ähnlich klingen und irgendwann zu nerven beginnen und Außergewöhnliches in weite Ferne rückt. Mit "Joke of the Season" greifen David Beaman und Ryan Rollinson, dieses wiederkehrende Phänomen, als Thema auf und geben uns ihr neues Release als Heilmittel rezeptfrei gleich mit. "Joke of the Season" stellt sich als gelungener Indie-Folk/Rock heraus und zeigt, dass es neben dem Mainstream auch äußerst hörenswerte Alternativen gibt.

"Wer bin ich¿" zeigt eine tiefe Identitätskrise und Sinnsuche des Menschen. Dichtboi symbolisiert den verzweifelten Versuch, der Realität durch Illusionen zu entfliehen. Der Text erinnert daran, dass wahrer Mut darin besteht, sich den Herausforderungen des Lebens zu stellen und Erfüllung innerhalb der realen Grenzen zu suchen, oder es wird zur Flucht in eine andere Welt, die leider oft nur einen Ausweg kennt.
