Booze Radly
Who are "Booze Radly" and how did you get into music?
We're a 5-piece emo/punk band from Philadelphia. We all grew up really liking skate punk and pop-punk and grew up in the same area, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. We were lucky enough to grow up there while bands like Snowing and Slingshot Dakota were hitting their stride and so had a really vibrant DIY scene and it really left an imprint on us as fun music that brings people together. We've been playing as a band for 10 years now.
What can we and our readers expect from your new EP "Lose, Badly"?
Lose Badly is a six song release that has us play with a good variety of sounds throughout. We wanted to just hit people with some really fast tracks that get you moving as we all felt really cooped up during lockdown, as I'm sure everyone did at some point.
This is the product of all of us feeling stir crazy and wanting to get back out there and just kinda have fun with it for 17 minutes.
What song from your EP was the most complicated to get finished and what's your favorite one?
Getting Crash and Burn (track 3 on the EP) completed was probably the most difficult as we have prominent keys part in it, screaming vocals and singing vocals throughout, and both singers go back and forth trading verses for the scream vocals. It was a lot of parts to get to blend and all come across in the mix, it also has like 3 different outros at the end and so getting it to feel cohesive and fully formed was definitely a process.
If you compare "Lose, Badly" with Whitechapel nights" (from 2014), what are the differences regarding your songwriting process?
So our first EP was written while our guitarist and vocalist Alex was living abroad in London while attending Temple University, so a majority of the lyrics, melodies, and chord progressions were already fully formed and then the rest of the band mostly came up with complementary parts to support full-band versions of those songs. With this EP, it was a more collaborative process, as Vince and Alex were living together while the majority of these tracks were written and the band got together on weekends to take a hot-seat approach to recording demos. One person would sit and record a riff or progression to a click and the rest of the band would build on top of that piece by piece.
Any chance to see you somewhere live on stage?
We have shows coming up on:

We're working on booking more as well, so definitely keep your eyes peeled!
...and what are your plans for the next few months?
We have a covers EP we're working on finishing the mixes and masters for, have some shirts that we're finalizing, tapes will be available starting March 10th via Lonely Ghost Records, we're working on our second full length, which is about half written. We'll also be trying to play more shows, so we're definitely keeping busy!
