Dutch Rhythm Gurus Channel Madchester Magic: “Love Can Take You Places” by Lemon

“Love Can Take You Places” by Lemon Today, we ride the wave of Lemon’s psychedelic groove, straight out of the wildest dreams of the Second Summer of Love. Primal Scream ’s ecstatic reverberations, Happy Mondays ’ swagger, Stone Roses ’ euphoric anthems, and The Charlatans ’ timeless rhythms collide with the avant-garde funk of Talking Heads , the indie jangle of The Kooks , and the electric fire of Kasabian , all converging in Lemon’s new release “Love Can Take You Places.” Welcome to Madchester, no, scratch that, this is undoubtedly Nedchester, reimagined by a quartet of Dutch rhythm gurus who are stirring up the scene with their unique brand of funky alternative rock.   Over 30 years ago, it was a cultural revolution that captured the spirit of a generation. It was a time when music and fashion collided, creating an explosion of self-expression that resonated through the streets of Manchester. This spirit has been embodied once more, blurring the lines between the old Hacienda god

#ListenNOW & #ReadtheInterview: “Melody” by NEPS

“Melody” by NEPS

In the midst of turmoil and despair, seeking a ray of light and a breath of fresh air, enveloped by vibrant pop with a hint of mysticism. NEPS return with their dazzling new single “Melody”. On a musical journey between Blur and Supergrass, they are on a quest for the ultimate harmony. Following “Come around”, the next brilliant track of the band, which invites you to not only listen but also join in.

How did NEPS come to be and who are the members of this group?

We are a 3 piece band living and making music in Vienna Austria. We are Franz (bassist, singer) Matthias (Guitarist, Singer) and Stefan (Drummer). Matthias and I met at the age of 15 and got along very well. We shared many musical interests like Blur, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and many more and not that long after we met started to make music together. After some demo songs we thought about playing our stuff live and so we started to search for a drummer. Stefan also came from my home village Weyer and we met at a Jam Session at the legendary Bertholdsaal. Soon after that we met in Vienna again and NEPS was born.

You explore the genre of Power Pop in your song “Melody”. What influenced you to create this song and what is its meaning?

Our new single MELODY is about making music and the search for the next good idea, the quest of finding a new idea that no one ever heard and the struggle you go through to find and make something that you are happy with. It's always hard to say that a song is influenced by anything exactly. I think many influences from our taste for music came together und put the idea for that riff into Matthias mind haha.

What are the main stages and difficulties that you face when you produce a new track?

Currently it's time and money management. We are starting to record and produce our debut album and there is a lot of stuff going on. But it's still fun and we love what we do, even though we sometimes need a break or time to work on other things in our lives.

Do you have any upcoming live shows that you are looking forward to?

The focus will be on recording our album in the next months, but we are already looking forward to take it on the road in the next year.

How do you see the indie music scene in Vienna, especially for the kind of music that you make?

The indie scene in Vienna is lovely. We have met so many people that became friends just because you meet them at the same spots every now and then. I think it's a small scene but with a big heart. You sometimes just have to go out there and start talking to people so you get to know other artists or people that enjoy that kind of music and they get to know you. For our music it's great to live in a place where there are many places where you can listen and enjoy many kinds of different music and get to meet people that share your interest in it.

What are your future projects and goals as a band?

Yeah as mentioned the next step will be recording our debut album and afterwards some touring in Europe hopefully. From there on we will see how the journey will turn out for us but it's already been great and we appreciate all the love we receive for our music :)
