‘Colorful Mind (EP)’ by Lucille Alison

‘Colorful Mind (EP)’ by Lucille Alison From Paris, or rather she now lives in Brussels, comes a lot of good music, and Lucille Alison's pop/soul/jazz fusion is definitely one of them. At home in timeless modernity, she is always reminiscent of past greats.  Her charisma is emotional, jazzy, and unadulterated, straight from and to the soul, so to speak.   ‘Colorful Mind’ is the lead track of her EP and highlights the transformative power of art as a means of overcoming inner struggles. The song begins with a reflection on the unpredictability of life, symbolized by the wind and dancing leaves, and suggests a sense of being lost in a crazy world. Nevertheless, it invites the listener to give the universe a smile. A powerful mantra in the chorus emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and inner strength. The phrase ‘ F*ck the world with your Colourful mind ’ is a bold declaration of individuality and resistance to societal pressures, advocating embracing one's own unique ...

How Shiano23 made a stunning debut with his chill trap love anthem “Sun Ally”

Shiano23

Shiano23

...is more than a rapper and a beat maker. He is a musical explorer who blends different genres to craft his own sound. Music has been his passion since he was a kid, experimenting and playing with different musical styles
He pours his love and talent into his beats, adding catchy tunes, funky rhythms and cool vibes. His lyrics are witty and fun, making his songs more engaging and lively. Shiano23 takes you on a musical journey that will make you move and dream.

„Sun Ally“ by Shiano23 [DE]

„Sun Ally“ by Shiano23 [EN]

A debut track is a big deal. You put your heart and soul into your first song. You want to make a good impression on the world as a new artist. You want it to be perfect. And when you nail it like Shiano23 did with “Sun Ally”, you can sit back and enjoy the feeling, and so can the listeners. But let me tell you how it all started. Shiano23 chose to sing about love with his song “Sun Ally”, which might sound cliché at first, but it’s a timeless theme that can always be given a fresh twist, depending on what we’ve been through in life. The song kicks off with an organ sample that grabs my attention right away and is boosted by a chill trap beat. The use of autotune, love it or hate it, sets the tone for “Sun Ally”. Shiano23 does an amazing job of conveying the emotions and turning them into music. The song stays on a high note for three minutes, never losing its momentum. You listen with curiosity and are stunned by the end. It’s over before you know it! Just like a love story that went wrong. With “Sun Ally”, Shiano23 makes a stunning debut and leaves us wondering what else he has in store for us, the Linzer who hopefully has more surprises up his sleeve.

Q&A

What's the story of Shiano23, the artist, and how did you discover your passion for music?

Shiano23, Linz
I was born on the countryside in the north of Austria. I developed a strong connection to music from an early age because my father exposed me to it at an early age. Over time I learned to play the trumpet and pursued my career as a musician. I loved listening to rap and hip-hop when I was in elementary school. My passion was ignited by 50 Cent.
Then, I discovered Cro's music at the age of 12, just when the German rapper was becoming famous with his debut album. This music accompanies me to this day and is always a great source of inspiration for my music. At the age of 20, I started producing beats myself and rapping specially written lyrics on them. This fascinated me more and more so that I never stopped.

“Sun Ally” sounds awesome. What was the source of your inspiration for it?

The source of “Sun Ally” was a broken relationship that had a very unhappy end. I was basically in a hole and was able to use texts to process the pain. I basically treated myself and figured out what I needed to do to get better.
There's also this melody of the song that made the hook just pop into my head. It was just the perfect beat for the song, I found this organ sample and knew that was the melody I was looking for.

In your genre, beats are very important, how do you find the perfect one for a song?

It depends. Sometimes cool drums are created, and I then decorate them with a melody, but most of the time I build the melody first and the drums at the very end. I think it really depends on the feeling of the track.
It's difficult to explain how to find the right beat, you just must feel it. Apart from that, it's a matter of taste anyway. What sounds very nice and suitable to me may not suit others at all. I just do it the way I think.

How do you go about creating your music and how do you know when a song is ready to be released?

Shiano23, Artist
My songs are mostly created on the piano or using samples. It always depends on where I spend more time. The melodies for most of the songs are created on the piano. I then simply instrumentalize them the way I like. Of course, I also use ready-made melody loops that simply sound good. If I like a loop, I usually add it. Of course, a loop isn't enough to build a song, so I look for samples that could fit with it, play melodies with different instruments or sample certain parts from old songs. Sometimes I take a sample and resample it again just to be able to express my own ideas musically.
A song is usually not finished for a long time, but at some point, you must draw a line in order not to lose yourself. I'm generally a fast-working person when it comes to implementation. So, once I have everything in my head, it takes a maximum of 12 hours until the song is finished. However, the creative part, i.e., finding the melodies and details that often decide whether a song is good or not, usually takes a long time. I always work when I'm in the right mood. When I'm under stress I can't write texts or be creative anyway. Everything just must fit. But the song is finally finished when I send the mix to the master.

What are some of the other things that interest or inspire you besides music?

Definitely love, friends, family, politics (even though I rarely talk about this topic in my songs), my own thoughts, fears and partying. Some of them are very controversial, but I try to deal with these topics.

Do you still remember the first song you ever wrote?

I recorded my first song with a friend in my children's room. That was 2021. That was crazy for us and somehow it was the starting signal for the whole project. Of course, the lyrics were not good and the mixing was really bad but we had a lot of fun and just did what we liked. But I would never release the song like that.

What are you currently working on and what can we look forward to from you?

I'm currently working on new songs that go in a direction that can best be described as "a mix of old school hip-hop, cloud rap and trap". I don't want to commit myself and only ride one style. I just want to combine everything that inspires me and what I like.
What I can tell you is that the next single will be a little more trap-oriented. There will be more of a party atmosphere.
