Electro-Pop’s Poet of Pain: Me & Melancholy Releases ‘Tears In The Rain’

‘Tears In The Rain’  by  Me & Melancholy Whenever there’s a new release from Me & Melancholy , it fills us with anticipation. This time, the artist paints a compelling portrait of human vulnerability and the complexity of interpersonal relationships.  ‘Tears In The Rain’ succeeds in capturing the essence of ephemeral beauty and the pain of the inevitable, expressing it through music. The dynamics of estrangement, articulated in the lines ‘I’m not able to reach you ’ and ‘ the more I try, the further I push you away ’, reflect a tragic irony. It feels like a dance of approach and withdrawal, prompting listeners to contemplate the paradoxes that often occur in our most intimate relationships.  The artist’s signature melancholic tone conveys a plea for acceptance and an attempt to bridge the gap created by misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Musically, Peter Ehrling navigates familiar territory, once again leveraging it to his advantage by capturing the emotional depth.   ‘Tears

Dark and Thoughtful: “Opinion” by pMad

“Opinion” by pMad

Paul is an artist who always surprises me with his versatile and original tracks. He does not shy away from exploring different musical genres, such as post-punk, gothic and indie rock, and critically engaging with current issues. His latest track, “Opinion”, is an impressive example of this.
As the title suggests, this song is about opinions. Paul asks why it is so hard for us humans to have and express our own opinions without hurting or suppressing those of others. He advocates a coexistence of freedom and tolerance, which forms the basis of a civilised society. But he also doubts whether we will ever reach this maturity.
Musically, Paul dresses this track in a cloak of darkness, reminiscent of the early works of The Cure. He uses gloomy synthesizers, rough guitars and a pulsating bass to create an atmosphere of tension and melancholy. As Robert Smith, the singer of The Cure, once said: ‘I like the darkness. It’s friendly.
Paul plays with the ambivalence that he expresses in his song. He shows that the darkness can be both a place of fear and comfort. “Opinion” by pMad, also known as Paul Dillon, is a track that impressed me both musically and in terms of content. He combines a current topic with pMad-esque elements that make his style distinctive and urges us to open our eyes and think about our opinions, but he also makes us feel that he recognises the difficulty and the tragedy of this endeavour. Paul gives the song a note of resignation and fatalism through his melancholy.
pMad starts 2024 with “Opinion”, a melancholic and thoughtful track. He stages the shadows and lights of the human soul musically.
