What implications ensue when a film artist and the former long-standing singer and co-founder of the German death metal band INCUBATOR unite? We shall address this topic.
From death metal to lost place photograph, Chris Mummelthey is devoted to music or music is devoted to Chris Mummelthey. Eerie and desolate places throughout Europe are skilfully staged and captured by the original compositions, in which sounds and noises appear as a homage to great noise and industrial artists. In collaboration with Lisa Roderer, Chris Mummelthey explores new terrain, new horizons of the symbiosis of images and music.
In harmony, impressions are fused and shaped into a total work of art. ‘LIGHTS SHINING DEADLY’ resembles a vernissage, an exhibition that illuminates the darkest corners and where you stroll from one work of art to the next. The breakout from the old rigid musical dress, which was laid out like a corset, is thrown off.
New clothes are demanded by art, the snake must shed its skin to grow, one might cautiously formulate.
