‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Along The Abyss with MAYUKO!

“Songs To Whistle When Strolling Along The Abyss” by MAYUKO

MAYUKO have made an impressive musical statement with their debut album, “Songs To Whistle When Strolling Along The Abyss”. Michelle Cheung, Kasia Kadłubowska and Rebecca Mauch are the trio behind this name, who celebrate the aesthetics of sound as the heartbeat of music that gazes into the depths of the soul.
Their inspirations span from Bon Iver to Björk, from dreams and life itself. They have combined the strengths of the individual into a harmonious work of art, visions that blend into each other, and dreams that one began and the other finished. This creativity, which almost constitutes a matter of course in artistic creation, was meticulously worked out and immortalized in the ether.
"New Moon", "Human" and "Salty Waters" are my personal favourites, which make me enthuse. The timid dance on the fragile parquet of life, in which individual weaknesses only result in peak performance by joining strengths. “Songs To Whistle When Strolling Along The Abyss” by MAYUKO, is certainly a striking release with depth, which ascends to new heights with every song!
The album was produced by Chris Gajny, with all three musicians working alongside him as co-producers for the renowned German label Sinnbus. Be careful, your ears will fall in love!
