Electro-Pop’s Poet of Pain: Me & Melancholy Releases ‘Tears In The Rain’

‘Tears In The Rain’  by  Me & Melancholy Whenever there’s a new release from Me & Melancholy , it fills us with anticipation. This time, the artist paints a compelling portrait of human vulnerability and the complexity of interpersonal relationships.  ‘Tears In The Rain’ succeeds in capturing the essence of ephemeral beauty and the pain of the inevitable, expressing it through music. The dynamics of estrangement, articulated in the lines ‘I’m not able to reach you ’ and ‘ the more I try, the further I push you away ’, reflect a tragic irony. It feels like a dance of approach and withdrawal, prompting listeners to contemplate the paradoxes that often occur in our most intimate relationships.  The artist’s signature melancholic tone conveys a plea for acceptance and an attempt to bridge the gap created by misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Musically, Peter Ehrling navigates familiar territory, once again leveraging it to his advantage by capturing the emotional depth.   ‘Tears

Passion through Music: “Short time my Love” by Carlos Ucedda

Carlos Ucedda
“Short time my Love” by Carlos Ucedda

Carlos Ucedda, a Spanish singer and songwriter, weaves a tapestry of Art Pop, Ambient and Electro Pop genres to express his emotions in his latest song, “Short time my Love”. You may have seen his name on our site or heard his voice in his previous collaborations with Luke Tangerine on “You spin me round (like a record)” and “I adore you”.
In this solo project, he plunges into the emotional electro-art-pop world and captivates us with a love song about a long-distance relationship. Each meeting is a spark and a flame; each goodbye is a cliff and a fall. One grasps every opportunity and every moment. Carlos channels this passion through music, adding a hint of melancholy that makes us, as listeners, sympathise with his farewell.
His vocal performance, which reminds me, particularly at the end (in the background) of the track, of Jimmy Somerville, portrays the overflowing emotions that swell with every yearning for his lover and stands out from the background of sadness.
“Short time my Love” mixes bitter passion with sweet joy but also metaphorically sprinkles salt into the open wounds of hope. The farewell draws near, soft but strong, while a reunion is desired. Carlos Ucedda astonishes us with “Short time my Love” and keeps us longing for more.

Who is Carlos Ucedda as a person behind the artist and what or who ignited your passion for music?

Well! I consider myself a noble person, and quite humble above all. I give myself one hundred percent to everything I consider art. I have always been very hardworking since I was a child, constant, disciplined, very thorough and I treat everything I do with a lot of love.
In my other job, apart from creating music, I am a stylist, and I have been creating art in my business for 39 years. I have always had music inside me. If I look back, I remember as a child singing all the television commercials and glued to the radio waiting for my favorite songs to turn up the volume and sing them at the same time. Which put me in conflict with my mother. to lower the volume of the radio hahaha!!.
Later, when I was a little older and working as a stylist in a good prestigious salon in my city (Granada), my bosses were the ones who guided me and supported me in every way, including financially, studying music and singing for a few years. Then I continued I was on my own with studies and preparation for about 10 years. Then for reasons of my business and stress, I had to leave music aside for 22 years.

What are the main influences on your musical style?

Taking into account that I studied lyric, specifically Baroque, my influences are quite extensive. But as I said before, I listened to music on the radio of all genres and musical styles. Outside of classical and early music, my favorite music is always that of the 80s, and I was greatly influenced by the electronic atmosphere of Depeche Mode and everything that sounded along that line.

Your latest track, “Short time my love”, is an amazing ambient-synth-pop track. What inspired you to compose it?

It is a long and extensive topic to explain, but it is a Love song. A Love separated by distance, by many kilometers of distance, by life circumstances. Making each meeting of both of them very intense and at the same time short, returning to the departure, arrival and departure for many years. I talk and sing about my personal situation with my partner, with my Love.

What do you think is the most challenging aspect of completing a song and what did you struggle with the most this time?

From my point of view the most challenging aspect is total surrender. Everything, when you start a project is challenging, from the moment you start singing it, the musical part and until you release it to the audience. Everything is challenging. But at the same time exciting. For me it is never a struggle, I always enjoy it a lot, perhaps in this specific case, it would be fighting with my feelings because of the intensity.

Do your fans will have the opportunity to see you live on stage?

I did it before on several occasions. In the short term it remains to be seen, at the moment I am focused on creating music and opening up a little more scope in it.

Who would you love to talk to about music, no matter if they are alive or not?

This question overwhelms me a bit :-) If we talk about the lyrical, I would love to talk to the most famous castrati called (Farinelli). I would love to talk to him to hear his spoken voice, since I don't know for sure what his spoken voice sounded like. Obviously I would love to hear his apotheosic singing like no other gelding. Talk about his experiences and his advice. And with reference to pop and other genres, I would love to talk with (Dave Gahan) Lead vocalist of the group Depeche Mode.

How do you manage the demanding aspect of being an artist with the other facets of your life?

I manage them in a natural way. Enjoying to the fullest all the people and artists I am meeting. As in each one's creations, music and art, as in person.

What are your goals for the near future?

I am currently in the process of preparing my first LP; which will be short term. My other goals are to continue collaborating with artists, something that fills me with satisfaction and expanding more knowledge with other excellent musicians.
