Electro-Pop’s Poet of Pain: Me & Melancholy Releases ‘Tears In The Rain’

‘Tears In The Rain’  by  Me & Melancholy Whenever there’s a new release from Me & Melancholy , it fills us with anticipation. This time, the artist paints a compelling portrait of human vulnerability and the complexity of interpersonal relationships.  ‘Tears In The Rain’ succeeds in capturing the essence of ephemeral beauty and the pain of the inevitable, expressing it through music. The dynamics of estrangement, articulated in the lines ‘I’m not able to reach you ’ and ‘ the more I try, the further I push you away ’, reflect a tragic irony. It feels like a dance of approach and withdrawal, prompting listeners to contemplate the paradoxes that often occur in our most intimate relationships.  The artist’s signature melancholic tone conveys a plea for acceptance and an attempt to bridge the gap created by misunderstandings and hurt feelings. “To be free” a musical Sunday delight by Graham Coe!

“To be free” by Graham Coe

What could be more edifying for a Sunday than a new opus by Graham Coe? “To be free” was released on Friday and Mr. Coe endows this release with his distinctive flair. The singer and songwriter from Wicklow, Ireland, is no newcomer to us and has augmented his musical versatility with the last singles (recall “Nothing but tears” or “AnnMarie”).
This time we have a Graham Coe who evokes his beginnings. Textually plain and yet imbued with emotional profundity and rendered in the finest indie folk attire, he pursues the aspiration for freedom, but freedom on a different plane. The aspiration for freedom, security and support often prevails at the top priority, especially when one is beset by self-doubt, fear and loneliness. With “To be free” Graham embarks on the quest for someone who can console and guide him, give him a lucid direction, or indicate the route that has his identity as his aim, his locus in the cosmos. It is not a given to find someone, that is, to have someone by your side who has faith in you and liberates you from self-doubt. And that is precisely what one should be thankful for.
“Oh to be free” as an utterance of a yearning, to be free of troubles. “To be free” a musical Sunday delight that you can also savour during the week!
