‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Soundscapes for the Soul: ‘In Waves’ by Lumari

‘In Waves’ by Lumari

For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of discovering Lumari: This band from the United States enriches alternative rock with shades of dream pop and shoegaze. Their compositions, marked by exquisite guitar arrangements and vocals of almost hypnotic quality, captivate the listener.
With their latest work, ‘In Waves’, they reaffirm their extraordinary musical finesse. This song, drawn from their debut album ‘En Phases’, glides over the flawless parquet of timelessness, reflecting the wide spectrum of human emotions and confrontational life situations fraught with challenges.
It is this endless stream of emotional creativity that Lumari captures in their music, defining as their craft. The members, Dan West (guitar/bass), Margo Pearson (vocals/keyboards), Robert Caple (guitar/bass), and Dave West (drums), combine their creative talents into a magic poised to unfold in great concert halls worldwide.
Turning to live performances, Lumari has scheduled a short UK tour from September 1st to 9th, where they will perform alongside other outstanding artists and bands like the Miki Berenyi Trio (Lush), Keeley Sound, and Sunstinger. Therefore, anyone captivated by their album should seize the opportunity to experience Lumari live this fall. Until then, we should thoroughly enjoy ‘In Waves’ and the album ‘En Phases’.
