A Haunting Ode to Isolation and Yearning: “Alone At A Table For Five” by Havard

“Alone At A Table For Five” by Havard Havard, an artist renowned for his ability to convey profound emotions through his music, marks another milestone in his artistic journey with his new single “Alone At A Table For Five.” His debut album, released four years ago, was a bold act of self-revelation, addressing his most severe personal struggles, including abuse, mental health issues, divorce, and suicidal thoughts. In “Alone At A Table For Five,” Havard continues this tradition of candid storytelling. The song paints a picture of a man seeking connection and understanding in a world often perceived as cold and unwelcoming. The metaphor of a lonely man sitting at a table for five is particularly powerful, symbolising isolation and the desperate attempt to connect with strangers. This depiction is not only visually striking but also emotionally profound and universally relatable. He remains true to his style, offering a blend of honest, introspective lyrics and empathetic melodies. Th

Addiction & Self-Sabotage: ‘Secret Relief’ by Carlos Ucedda

‘Secret Relief’ by Carlos Ucedda

When I gaze out of the window and the slightly drizzly atmosphere tints my thoughts in shades of grey, it perhaps mirrors the mood of the subject. As an observer or listener, I delve into the depths of this theme.

While pondering it, the imaginary turntable spins Carlos Ucedda’s latest work: ‘Secret Relief.’ This recently released single tackles the delicate issue of addiction and narrates the inner struggle of leading a double life. On one hand, the pressures of everyday life and work stress consume us, while on the other hand, we battle against inner voices and the desire to escape through consumption until we finally give in. After experiencing the depths of addiction and self-sabotage, the cry for help emerges. We are ready to reach out and accept assistance.
Carlos Ucedda weaves this story, which unfortunately occurs all too often, not only in musical notes but also in images. His remarkable release ‘Secret Relief’ can be not only heard but also seen. Musically, Carlos appears somewhat more modern than in his previous works, without neglecting his signature genre. Finest dark synthwave, supported by a careful selection of sounds, captivates the listener.
The vocals, which impressed me from the first listen, vividly portray the inner struggle driven by addiction. The avant-garde-inspired video seamlessly complements this magnificent overall picture.
The theme is masterfully transformed into visuals, significantly enhancing the emotional impact. ‘Secret Relief’ is another gem in Carlos Ucedda’s artistic crown. He breathes new life not only into the new song but also into the medium of video, showcasing his creative spectrum of art. In this sense, the art is making a comeback with Carlos Ucedda! May sound exaggerated, but that's how it is.

"Secret Relief", your latest release, has its nostalgic touch, but not as much as some of the predecessors. It definitely sounds more modern. Could you share the story behind the song and who or what inspired it?

The vibe in this song reflects, and, I sing about addiction due to consumption. Consumption in this case of alcohol. The inspiration came to me from a third long-lasting significance, about a family member. A delicate topic! A double life, on the other side, the other side, day after day addicted to consumption. Self-sabotage in his mind of internal voices, tied up, casting the nets to get out of that state, to fight addiction, asking for your hand, asking for help. Inside, and, I enclose my body as something metaphorical representing the movements projected in relation to the letter.

The video is great as well, very avant-garde. How much time did you invest in finishing it?

Thank you very much 🙏🏻. The video was made in one morning...in reference to the creation and assembly, about two weeks.

If you had to choose your favorite video of all time (and there are plenty, especially from the '80s, I guess), which one would be your number one right now, in this very second?

It is true that there are many...it is not easy to detail, but there is one specifically that stands out to me, and it could be due to the situation at the moment... "Fade To Grey" by Visage, this would be my favorite video from the 80s, it seemed and seems to me very avant-garde considering all the years that have passed since its recording, although, as I say, there are several among them. One of the fairly current videos that I also like a lot would be "On The Radio (Video)" by Jay-Jay Johanson.

When I listen to your most recent four releases, they all sound very different to me. Can we expect another surprise with the next singles, or is it always part of the process to sound different?

I have always liked versatility, experimenting, trying and I love being creative, so I will always try to investigate and sound different. I like to change genre, and style of music, as well as vocal register. I will look for new surprises.

Carlos Ucedda and the Summer, what are your plans for the holiday season?

(c) by Carlos Ucedda
In summer and on vacation I like to travel, move, see different places and areas to absorb details of experiences. It may sound strange, but I don't like going to beaches, a while ago when I was younger I had my time at the beach.
Now I enjoy more about nature, the mountains, I love plants. So I like green and leafy places. Maybe this summer I will travel to the Azores islands or the island of Madeira, to see their green interiors, but it still has to be managed.

Whenever an artist wants to collaborate with you, what is the workflow? What are the individual steps of working with you?

Generally make joint decisions, and carry out the project with the development part.

And last but not least, what are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a lyrical aria, but if everything goes on time, I would like to project a song for the summer, and as I mentioned on another occasion, my first album is in the pipeline. Thank you, and greetings to all 👋🏻

"Secret Relief" by Carlos Ucedda [DE]
