‘Beautiful People’ by Hackmonocut
Nick Cave, or perhaps even The Doors, shine through and tell a wonderfully melancholic story of love that’s painfully intense, loss, and the search for meaning in life. It’s a post-punk dance between the beauty of existence and its transience, as well as loss.
Hackmonocut’s dark soul has been set free, gifting us ‘Beautiful People’ – a musical gift we gladly accept. Rock, paired with a hypnotic beat, creates an alternative listening experience that strongly echoes 90s Seattle Sound but presents itself in an accessible, modern style.
The staging is deliberately restrained yet highly efficacious in evoking a sense of foreboding. Each musician and instrument is positioned in a manner that allows them to occupy their own space, thereby contributing to the overall atmosphere of gloom. Naturally, the vocal part stands out even more, but ultimately, it’s the enchanting interplay that defines the band.
Hackmonocut impresses fully with their new release ‘Beautiful People,’ making me proud that exceptional music exists in Austria as well.

Nick Cave oder vielleicht sogar The Doors schimmern durch und erzählen eine wunderbar melancholische Geschichte von schmerzhaft-verletzender Liebe, Verlust und der Suche nach Bedeutung im Leben. Ein Post-Punk-Tanz zwischen der Schönheit des Lebens und der Vergänglichkeit sowie dem Verlust.
Die dunkle Seele von Hackmonocut hat sich befreit und uns “Beautiful People” beschert – ein musikalisches Geschenk, das wir nur zu gerne annehmen. Rock, der sich mit einem hypnotischen Beat paart, erzeugt ein alternatives Hörerlebnis, das stark Richtung Seattle der 90er-Jahre tendiert und seine düstere Essenz wirken lässt, sich aber in einer eingängigen, modernen Spielweise präsentiert.
Zurückhaltend und dennoch stark in seiner Wirkung ist die Inszenierung: Jeder Musiker, jedes Instrument bekommt seinen Platz, seinen Raum und trägt zur perfekt dunkel gehaltenen Stimmung bei. Natürlich ragt der Gesangspart nochmals etwas mehr heraus, aber am Ende ist es doch das betörende Zusammenspiel, das die Band respektive den Song ausmacht.
Hackmonocut überzeugen mit ihrem neuen Release “Beautiful People” voll und ganz und lassen mich stolz sein, dass auch in Österreich außergewöhnlich gute Musik vorhanden ist.
