Where Musical Boundaries Blur: “All For Nada (Album)” by Universal Thermo Dad

“All For Nada (Album)” by Universal Thermo Dad The lead singles from the album, “Burn out in Bangkok” and “Press & Compress,” are outstanding tracks that capture the essence of “All For Nada” with their dynamic rhythms, rich electronic textures, and introspective lyrics . “Burn out in Bangkok” transports listeners to a vibrant metropolis, where shimmering synthesizers reflect the city’s feverish energy.  In contrast, “Press & Compress” offers a deeper, introspective journey, with gentle melodies, complex soundscapes, and dynamic beats revealing the artist’s emotional depth and inner turmoil. These singles provide listeners with a first taste of the broader exploration of existential themes, emotional complexity, and the enduring human spirit that permeates the entire album.  The artist’s dedication to his musical craft is unmistakable in this album. A Visionary Artist Redefining the Boundaries of Creativity: ‘Zombie CV’ by Ilya Popenko

‘Zombie CV’ by Ilya Popenko

Ilya Popenko is a visionary, multidisciplinary artist whose creative journey began in the Soviet Union and led him to the United States at the age of 16. As a film-maker, photographer, songwriter, and performer, Ilya has enriched the art world with his unique perspective. In 2011, he founded the band Mad Meg, which revitalised the music scene with their distinctive style, which they themselves describe as ‘punk-chanson-noir’. As Mad Meg is currently on hiatus, Ilya is devoting himself to his solo projects and today presents his latest work, ‘Zombie CV’, in which he explores the boundaries of art with his tireless creativity and passionate commitment.

‘Zombie CV’ is a profound and ironic work that tells the chronicle of a life that does not end with death, but remains trapped in an endless cycle of survival. The protagonist, who dies in his 30s and is resurrected as a zombie, finds himself in a monotonous everyday life that reflects the absurdity and desolation of existence. Death offers no way out here, but reinforces the senselessness of the daily struggle. Loosely inspired by Ilya Popenko’s own experiences, ‘Zombie CV’ offers a reflection on growing up in the Soviet Union and the challenges and disappointments that accompanied his young years in New York. In doing so, he combines personal history with universal themes, creating a work that is both thought-provoking and highlights the ironies of life and death.
To summarise, with ‘Zombie CV’, Ilya Popenko transports his viewers (video available today!) and listeners into a surreal world in which life and death merge into a bizarre dance. His ability to interweave personal experiences with universal themes creates a work of art that is both profound and ironic. Popenko remains a tireless visionary who not only explores the boundaries of art but redefines and expands them. A truly unique artist whose creative journey is hopefully far from over.
