‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

#OUTNOW: "Taxidermist" by Velourias

"Taxidermist" by Velourias

Velourias' history spans almost two decades, beginning in 2006. Their debut album 'Velourias', released in 2011, was one of the best rock albums of the year in Ireland. A creative hiatus followed, but to the delight of their fans, the band returned two years ago. And so today we are delighted to present their latest track.
"Taxidermist" by Velourias
"Taxidermist", their new single, is a remarkable piece of alternative rock with a hint of post-punk and could well be one of the year's standout tracks. Phil (guitar and vocals), Rob (bass and vocals) and Nick (drums) create that special energy that is both menacing and mesmerising, transporting the listener to another world where nothing is as it seems.
The trio's musical performance is exquisite, giving each of the three musicians room to shine as the main protagonist. From the dynamic drums that provide a powerful drive, to the groovy bass line, to the precise guitar and vocal parts, everything comes together in a perfect arrangement. It is a combination that sees Velourias take the alternative rock genre to new heights with 'Taxidermist'.
The outlook for the future is definitely promising, as Velourias are currently working on a new album to be released next year. Although the wait is still long, we hope the band will bridge the gap with more singles. Until then, "Taxidermist" undoubtedly makes the genre thunder and roar, solidifying Velourias' place in the music landscape.
