‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Provocative, rebellious & confrontational: "Compassion!?" by Jean-Luc Delmonac

"Compassion!?" by Jean-Luc Delmonac

Provocative, rebellious, confrontational - welcome to the new song by Jean-Luc Delmonac entitled 'Compassion!' Musically arranged andarealized in an extremely funky way, you almost feel transported to the Copacabana, indulging in the rhythms.
"Compassion!?" by Jean-Luc Delmonac
But there is more to it than just good music; the lyrics express a strong rejection of social expectations and norms, especially in relationato compassion and political correctness. In the song ‘Compassion!’, Jean-Luc Delmonac shows a clear indifference to the opinions and judgments of others, underlined by the repeated emphasis on ‘No Compassion’ and ‘I don't give a damn’.
The language is direct and blunt, necessary to express the protagonist's frustration and resistance to the social and political landscape. Terms such as ‘racist’, ‘Nazi’, and ‘LGBT’, along with mentions of violence and vandalism, reinforce the intensity and urgency of the message.
Overall, the text conveys an attitude of rebellion and resistance against social pressure to conform to certain moral and ethical norms. Thekemotional intensity and direct language make the lyrics powerful and insistent, while the repeated refrainsareinforce the central message of rejection and indifference. The song criticizes the superficiality and lack of authenticity in digital communication, urging people to focus on essentials anddcultivate genuine relationships instead of being swayed by the opinions of the masses.

Backstory:

You can discover what inspired the artist to write these lyrics right here:

It was a seemingly normal Wednesday morning when I opened my phone and realized that I had become overnight a racist, a trans-hater, a Netanyahu fan and a Nazi. The social media community was pretty much unanimous: I had lacked compassion. I had refused to give the jihadist knife attacker on a mayor a thumbs-up, and the „anti-right-wing“, „Pro-Palestine“ and „Caliphate is the solution!“-demonstrations yesterday didn't get little red hearts from me. Even worse: I gave a man dressed as a woman in a women's sports team a tear emoji. My timeline visitors howled with outrage almost in unison and flooded my profile with outbursts of anger, curses, threats and deep disappointment.
Genuine compassion for people close to us was once considered a virtue, a fine trait. Now, more and more 'identities' are loudly screeching, mobbing and insulting demands for compassion with 999 supposedly attacked and marginalized communities: for 'mentally ill' knife attackers; for terrorists who shoot kibbutz farmers and kidnap and slaughter dancing children; for rioting anti-Semites and for allegedly 'trauma-burdened' gropers of women in swimming pools or pedestrian zones, for 'environmentally-souled' graffitists and destroyers of irreplaceable works of art; for 'empathic' psychiatrists who liberally prescribe puberty blockers to children despite irreversible consequences for their lives and health: stop it!
Assaults remain assaults, crimes remain crimes - and there is no compassion for them, only prosecution and condemnation. Real compassion belongs to our neighbours, collegues, friends, families – to the people who are important to us. We all should proudly and confidently put attempts at blackmail, manipulation, moral-loaded molotov-cocktails, mobbing and reality-twisting ideological nonsense in their place. I sat down and wrote “Compassion ?!” Sir Waldo Weathers (sax) and DJ Mikkka (solo-synth) added their musical signatures. From this moment on I felt better.
