‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

"Spiritchaser" by The Ultimate Dreamers

"Spiritchaser" by The Ultimate Dreamers

The deep inner restlessness and rejection of the empty and meaningless social interactions that often characterize modern life is the theme of The Ultimate Dreamers' new release.
(c) by the artist (The Ultimate Dreamers)
"Spiritchaser" conveys a strong longing for authenticity and individual freedom, far away from the false facades and superficial courtesies of society. One embarks on a search, feeling the need to free oneself from these negative influences and find one's own path. The desire to take their own, authentic path in life is at the forefront.
Musically, the band succeeds in creating a unique melancholy that is reminiscent of big names and doesn't need to shy away from comparisons. Stylistically, the sound and atmosphere created by the bass, synthesizer, and guitar are more akin to The Cure, although the melancholy in the vocals is more attributable to early New Order, with a lingering Joy Division tendency.
And so, at the end of the year, we get a cold/dark wave track that was born in the bosom of post-punk and has everything you love about these genres. If you haven't acquired a taste for it yet, this would be a good introductory song that won't let you go any time soon. We are eagerly awaiting the upcoming album.
