‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

Masked Truths: ‘Prête-à-porter’ by Ultra Violette

‘Prête-à-porter’ by Ultra Violette

With ‘Prête-à-porter,’ Ultra Violette knocks on the door of our blog, or rather our ears, and we are happy to let her in. Her new release outlines a dilemma, the inner dilemma of a person who tries to distract herself at night but is repeatedly caught up in her inner questions and conflicts. Escaping into illusions and alcohol to avoid the harsh reality seems to be the solution.

The paradox of life, in which the future seems known, while the here and now remain unpredictable and uncontrollable, is evident.
The masquerade to be accepted and appreciated by others is the way out, and alcohol serves as a temporary escape, with the inner truth and conflict always present. ‘Prête-à-porter’ shows us a picture of inner disintegration and the inability to remain true to oneself.
Electropop and a slight new wave touch define the musical landscape in which the artist feels safe and at ease. The French language gives the song a special flair and ‘Prête-à-porter’ even more souplesse. Ultra Violette not only provides music but also encourages reflection on authenticity, self-acceptance, and the painful discrepancy between the outer façade and the inner state. Just excellent, "prête-à-porter" by Ultra Violette.
