‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

"When The Light Falls And The Bear Sleeps" by Emaline Delapaix

"When The Light Falls And The Bear Sleeps" by Emaline Delapaix

The cycle of nature sets an example for us, indeed, it lives it out before us, and we only need to follow it. The changing of the seasons stands for the constant change and adaptation that defines life, while the pause in winter represents the importance of self-care and inner reflection.

This period of rest allows both nature and us to lay down the "heavy burden of life" so we can enter a new cycle renewed. The song "When The Light Falls And The Bear Sleeps" captures this theme. Emaline Delapaix invites us to slow down and reflect on what has happened. Retreating is allowed and not a sign of weakness!
After an autoimmune disease forced her into a multi-year break, Emaline Delapaix has returned stronger than ever. Musically, her new release offers everything that dreamy folk music embodies. The musical mood and the poetry create an atmosphere that captures the cold and the often gray skies typical of this season, wrapping the listener in a blanket, cradling them in safety, and almost bringing the world to a standstill for 4 minutes and 45 seconds. She wants to tell us to use this time to organize our thoughts and gather energy, reminiscent of Kate Bush and Bjørk.
"When The Light Falls And The Bear Sleeps" by Emaline Delapaix gets us ready, open for new things, for the beginning of the new cycle, we just have to listen. Magnificent!

Inspired by artists such as Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Scandinavian and Celtic folk musicians, she started a deeply touching musical collaboration with the renowned producer Fieke Van Den Hurk after overcoming her chronic illness.
