‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division

‘The Journey’ - The Octopus Division In ‘The Journey,’ a sonic mosaic unfolds that—permeated by neon-soaked synth pads and a melody that feels like memory—is less a song than a spiritual compass. The time that relentlessly pursues us, according to ‘Time keeps chasing us every day’, is not portrayed as an enemy, but as a constant touchstone that we face with our heads held high: ‘ We won't let the rain wash us away’ . Photography, here metaphorically as a key to the past, opens doors to moments that seem long gone but live on within us. The chorus – a kind of collective mantra – describes not just a journey, but an intertwining of stories that support each other. The garden in which hopes take root becomes a symbol of what must be nurtured in order to flourish. And when ‘ our songs have lost a note or two ’, it is not a flaw, but proof of lived depth. A song that is not meant to be heard, but to be lived through – like a familiar glance at an old photo album by candlelight. b...

‘The Weaker We Are’ by Future Faces

‘The Weaker We Are’ by Future Faces

They appeared out of nowhere (at least for me), Future Faces, who introduced themselves to us with ‘The Weaker We Are’, and did so very impressively. Post-punk of the finest kind, pure underground sound and excellent.

Inner conflicts and the decision to take an active stance in difficult times were made the theme. No time to lose and facing up to the given challenges is demanded. The repeated call to choose noise, flames, and anger symbolizes determination and courage.
The metaphors ‘flames and ashes’ and ‘a life that is too short’ emphasize the transience and fragility of life, and the comparison with the father points to a self-reflective realization. ‘The Weaker We Are’ conveys a strong message about making the best of a short and often difficult life and does so in the finest darkwave twist.
Equipped with the melancholy of Joy Division and the openness of Depeche Mode, they march into eternal darkness. ‘The Weaker We Are’, a musical treat from the Future Faces, is just one track from the great album “Memoria”. Definitely a must listen!
